Name of goat's milk formula!

Hey,

just a question for people in the UK who may be using goat's milk formula. My Dr recommended I try ds with some but pharmacy said they need to know the brand name of the milk?
 One pharmacy refused to even order it!

Did the Dr prescribe it? The one we used was Nannycare but it was never got on prescription.

No they won't prescribe it. And I didn't think to ask the name as didn't realise I'd have a problem finding it.

Can I ask where you bought it from? I've looked in supermarket but couldn't find any.

We had to get it from the health food store, although I have a feeling I saw it in Waitrose too.

I did try Holland and Barrett and they didn't have any. We don't have a waitrose anywhere near here, but the grandparents do. I wonder if they'l post some  ;D

Thanks though. I will pop into the pharmacy with that name and see if they'l order it

Do they sell goatsmilk formula in the US? If so where and what is it called?

Goats milk formula is not allowed to be sold in the UK any more as it's not as nutritionally complete as cows milk based formulas. The protiens are also very similar to cows milk so if MPI is an issue then goats milk could also be. It is slightly lower in lactose but has more protien which can cause issues with kidneys.

I was just looking at the link Anna provided - very interesting! It's a UK site, but the product is called "goat's milk nutrition" - it doesn't actually state that it is a formula or that it's suitable for feeding to infants, but it can be used for cooking. I think that's how they are getting around the EU directive, by not calling it a formula or advertising it as an infant milk.
