8 month old with EW
« on: March 08, 2010, 02:18:58 am »
Wow...I cannot believe it has been so long since I have posted on here. For another quick update, my LO is now 8 months old:) She is doing great, sleeping well for naps and sleeping through the night pretty well although she was sick for almost a month with RSV and double ear infections. We are still getting back on track from those things. Also, I figured out around Christmas time that she has MSPI issues, so after cutting out dairy and soy from my diet, her reflux has gone away! She barely even spits up anymore, is not on medication, and is not spitting up in bed at all. I am also making her food from organic fruits and veggies and giving her probiotics every day. I think the combination of these things have improved her tummy and reflux issues.

I do have a question though. She is going to bed between 8 and 9 every night and taking just two naps during the day. She typically sleeps through the night but has been waking up between 6:15 and 6:45. I am totally not complaining, but do you think that I should try to stretch her out a bit to see if we can make it to closer to 7 for wake up? Also, how long do 8 month olds usually stay awake before bedtime. She is going around 4.5 hours after her last nap. Thanks!

So, in addition to that information, she has woken up the past two nights at 1 am and 6 am. Help!

Hi there! sorry no one has answered your post sooner, it looks to me like she could be OT, we are only just doing an A time of 4.5 hours now at 13 months old and Caleb has always been high A times!

I would suggest an A time of around 3-3.5 hours and see if that suits her better

Well, I just checked this again today:) The past few days have been better. I originally was putting her to bed around 3 hours after her last nap, and she would nurse quickly and then talk to me, smile, etc until she was tired enough to go to sleep. So, I started nursing her and then reading books and trying to watch her to see when she was ready for bed. That is how we started the 4 hour awake time before bed. Last night she was awake for about 4 hours and slept from 9 until 7 without a peep and took good naps today. She is staying awake 3 hours before her first nap and almost 4 hours before her second nap. I think I need to reconsider over-stimulation at night? Thanks for the advice! Just when we have things figured out, something changes:) which keeps me on my toes!
