need help with my routine for 6 mo. old please
« on: March 08, 2010, 02:42:49 am »
our schedule starts at 7am for a feed and then 9am for a nap, 11am feed, and 1pm a nap, feeding at 3pm, then a cluster feed before a catnap between 5-6pm...depending on if she took a catnap -another cluster feed then bedtime between anywhere from 6:30-7:30pm..sleeps till about 5am, then a feed, and back down till 7.

i was told that maybe at 6 months a 9am nap may be too soon??
she is a "spirited baby" and takes a while to go down...so my next question is....when i put her down for a nap and she starts the mantra cry do i stay with her or leave to see if she will go to sleep on her own. i thought i read i stay but then read on the forum that you leave??
also, at this age and being she is a "spirited" baby possibly "touchy" too is it good to do PU/PD for the whole 40 min/break/ then keep with the PU/PD till nap time is over or she finally falls asleep...?

Hi! 2hr A time is a little on the short side and this may be the key to your difficulty at nap time.  How long are the naps?  How are your nights going?  Here is a link for A times:

the naps are short 30-45min., maybe thats because of the shorter A time. i read the info you gave, thanks. i will try that. our nights are good actually. at least so far so good. 8 hours the very first night we tried the EASY routine, 9 the next and last night woke up once and put herself back to sleep. woke up again starving, so i fed her. then slept till 7.
any ideas about the PU/PD with her though? she seems to get more agitated with PU/PD but if we don't pick her up she still gets very mad and sometimes chokes and once threw up...like i said she is 6 mo. well in a week she will be. and spirited and maybe a bit touchy so i don't know if PU/PD is working so great. i mean we do it, but it takes forever, and its the biggest battle ever! i just walked out of the room because i was too frustrated and had my husband take over. its been very difficult.

I've never done PU/PD.  I'm too chicken.....

If nobody comes by with more advice you should post your question on the PU/PD board, I know there is lots of support for that method on that board and if someone has experience with it they  are more likely to respond if it is on that board or if you put it in your subject.
