13 month old with HORRIBLE separation anxiety

HELP!!!

I went back to work last week and now my 13 month old refuses to go to sleep without me in his room and is having at least 1 NW each night, last night was 3.  I have tried the WI/WO method a couple of times for over an hour and finally just sat beside his bed because he was so upset.

He doesn't need a lot of intervention, he will lay back down as soon as I come back into his room and if I stay beside his bed or sit on the floor by his bed (even if he doesn't see me) he is usually fine, it is when he sees me leave his room.  Last night I laid on his floor for most of the night.  I am at a loss as I am getting less and less sleep each night and now I have to go to work each morning and drop him off at daycare.

It took us a very long time to get him to sleep on his own without us patting him to sleep, he turned into a great sleeper and now he has gone backwards in a major way.

If anyone has any other idea, please post them as I am very desperate!!

Have a look at this link

I think you may have to lay/sleep with him for a few nights until he knows you're not leaving him.  Then work on gradual withdrawal.  He'll get used to you being at work with time so hopefully that'll help.

Could you also post his routine and has his routine changed since you went back to work - this may also have a part to play.

I agree. WiWO may be too much for him at the moment and so GW could be your answer x
