yes agreed - we went to the pediatrician yesterday and he told me that it will be a few more months before the baby's system will even be able to convert the food into useful nutrients - all their nutrients are still coming from milk

he likes the pears, he made funny faces at first .. but than can get enough with just 1 teaspoon
.... so we're clear with pears.. next i want to try baby rice.. there's one here.. organic baby rice, red rice.. my friend recommended it to me.. but i'm worried about DS being milk intolerant and constipated.. do you think red rice ok? coz i remember reading in other thread that constipated and rice don't go along...

Baby rice can be constipating, yes.
I've never heard of Red rice so can't comment on it I'm afraid!!
I'd make sure that the rice is mixed with lots of EBM/formula or water so that it's nice and runny to start with, and see how LO goes!

I think any rice cereal of any type is constipating....
rice cereal mixed with prunes or pears is a good attempt. Ugh. rice cereal.

hi ya - if your lo is still getting most of his meals in the form of breast milk then the chance of getting constipated from a few teaspoons of baby rice are slim. If you give it to him for a few days it should be fine...then you can mix it with pear and other fruits and veg which will stop him from getting constipated. As far as rice cereal is concerned the easiest is ready made baby rice (which is powdered and contains nothing but rice and perhaps iron - make sure you check the ingredients some brands add sugars and fructose etc which your lo does not need yet) you can buy it brown rice which i probably really good for him...
