yeah Laura, I know and I would also say that if looking at someone else's post but he has never done long A's before bed and if he does we always get an EW. Funny kid, so many contradictions. No wonder i can never work him out....anyway he will have longer to bed today as has gone for a nap now at 1.40pm and will only do an hour probably so up around 2.40pm and then bed will be 6.30pm so we will see how that affects the morning xxx

Don't know if this will help or just confuse the matter even more...but no matter what type of naps or wake up time Ben has had we always to the same bed time within about 20/30 minutes.  It just helps me to know where I stand.

I'd agree with leaving him until he is crying properly and not mantraing or whinging maybe when you go in instead of a 'sleep' phrase you could say something like 'It's not time to get up yet' lie him down and walk out again.  Just so he gets to know why he's not being taken out despite the fact that it's getting light etc...

Here's hoping that the time change works in making mornings later!! XXX

thanks. I know if I go in he will scream like hell so I am in a difficult position. If I leave him I feel bad but if I go in he will think he can get up and I will have to do wiwo which after 11 hours sleep is not ideal...yes we do have a 6.30pm bedtime and it only moves earlier on an extreme day i.e. when he slept 20 mins once! I would like to push it out to 7pm once the clocks move forward so that if he does an 11 hour night then it is still 6am.
Thanks for the help x

Becky, I am sorry you are struggling again.  My LO isn't "normal" either, so I get how frustrating it can be.  I too have been dealing with that scream the past couple of days.  It is horrible!!  I have no advice - just wanted to offer support.  Good luck today and hopefully you get a decent wake up tomorrow.

Thank you Kara. How is lo???
quick question for anyone who reads this...
Awake at 5.30am.
S - 9.50-10.10am
S - 1.40-sleeping now and 2.45pm. If he wakes nearer to 3 what bedtime would you shoot for. Just interested to see what people say.
Thanks :)

I would say not before 7.30pm but you say he's not good at long A before bed so maybe 7pm?

so even though the day started at 5.30am it is ok to keep them up for a longer day? I guess with 2 naps that might have to be the way it is....maybe that is where I have been going wrong. I have been trying to keep a 12/12.5 hour day. x

We are battling major EWs but having good naps, so the 12 hour day isn't happening here.  I try to keep it within 13 hours, but on a major EW day with good naps I have pushed it longer.   My LO never makes up the time at night, but he won't go down earlier after a good nap often.

I'd say if he sleeps until 3, you push until 7:00 but 7:30 might be getting too much later than he is used to.  My LO is like yours and we have to keep the last A short.

Becky, you make a good point about the long day.  I would say 7 pm too.  If your LO drifts of later, then so be it.

We are doing ok - thanks.  Horrible day yesterday and really bad night last night.  But not so bad today.  This has been a long 9 days!

We never have a 12 hour day anymore, lucky if it's 13.  Typically closer to 13.5.  Same as londonmama, we don't get sleep made up at night and a good nap means he wants a longer A to bed.

I was going to say 7 as well to rule out end of day OT, that's what we shall be trying AGAIN tonight lol
Agree with Kara, put him in bed and let him decide to go off or not.
The tweaking never stops!

Further on this subject, I have found that in the last couple of weeks that I can put him into bed at bedtime earlier than I think he will sleep and he will sing and chat away and then drift off.  This would NEVER work at naptime and I had never really tried it at bedtime (always tried to judge the A perfectly, and also got him very drowsy BFing most nights) but now it seems I can err on the side of earlier to bed and let him sort himself out?

Wonder if Henry might be the same?

thanks for checking in...I ended up putting him to bed at 6.50pm in the end and we had a good night and he was up at 6.10am so much better and 11.20 which with 1.45 day sleep is 13 hours which is his usual amount.
Fingers crossed for tonight. Shorter day, same bedtime but 1.20 day sleep rather than 1.45 x
