another 5.30am start and this one is a proper EW as he did not go to sleep till 6.50pm. Oh help! He is so low on sleep now and I am so fed up.
I went in when the crying started and lay on the floor until 6.15am. He is so cross and just shouting milk. What the heck do I do....I cannot have 5.30am as the new wake up time. We are all so tired as during the day he just never rests and naps are usually not good. At a loss x

He still has a cold which has been 5 weeks now. Doctor says he is fine but not in my mind he isn't. I am thinking maybe teeth are an issue as his gums are swollen and the early mornings may be that???

Big hugs Becky.  If he's feeling rough then could you throw in a 2 nap day today?  If it's not too late already, not sure whether the 2 naps have been working for you recently....

Or early nap and then catnap APOP style?

well we are always on 2 nap days as he is waking too early for one and I KNOW this is not an UT issue. Just do not know what to do anymore x

I wonder if you're in that whole OT/UT loop, a few days of 2 naps is too much but a few days of bad one naps = OT and then the process starts again.

How much sleep is he getting on the 2 naps, average?  If you think OT then definitely do an early bed.

we have not done one nap for over a week now. The past 24 hours he has had 12 hours sleep so just not enough at all. :(

I guess early bed it is then.  Are you doing meds at night?  I know DS teeth are an absolute PITA at the moment for us.

well the weird thing is we have not had a peep out of him through the night - just early starts. Today was after 10.45 sleep which is really unusual for him, we nearly always make it to 11 hours no matter how rubbish the naps are....will be back for bedtime advice when he wakes from the nap xxx

LizJ suggested something to me the other day - to go in at 3am and give some meds from a syringe to pre-empt any pain that might cause an EW.  Not ideal getting up in the middle of the night, but might be worth a try if you think he is waking because of teeth?

We always get EWs with teeth and you know my DS tends to be a NW rather than an EW kinda guy!

if it was Ben I'd have him in bed for 6.15 - hoping he's be asleep by 6.30pm.....definately would be leaning towards early rather than late (but I'm the Mother of a child who's been going to bed at 5.30pm  :-\ so perhaps I'm not the best person to make suggestions  :-X!!)

I'd rather have a well rested boy at 5.30am than an OT one so at least he'd be well slept if he woke early?
