Really frustrating
« on: March 18, 2010, 10:32:13 am »
Hi,
I'm not sure whether this is a nap issue or an EASY issue but my DD was a really good napper but things have gone wrong! She seems to only want to take 45mins-1hour naps. Her first nap especially she has cut down. I thought maybe she was overtired or overstimulated but I cut her A time and reduced the stimulation and still no luck. Sometimes I can resettle her for a bit longer but normally not. I am also confused because if she only naps for an hour then it is still another hour until her feed by which time she is getting tired again. I can't feed her early because given the choice she would go 4 hours rather than 3 anyway. Her routine was;
E: 7.30
A
S: 8.30
E: 10.30
A
S:11.30
E: 1.30
A
S: 2.30 until 3.30
E: 4.30
A
S: 5.00
A: 6.00
E: 7.00
S

Slightly random at the end I know but she isnt a hungry baby and I can't get her to eat at other times. She has a dream feed at 10.30 and sleeps till 3.30/4 and then to 7.30am.
I though about moving to a 4 hour EASY as she really isn't interested in feeding every 3 hours but she is showing me sleep cues anywhere between 50mins-1hr.15mins (although this morning for the first time it was a little longer). She is 10 weeks!
Help!!!

She is definitely very young for a 4hr feeding routine, most of them aren't ready for that until 16 weeks or so. However, maybe giving her a bit more awake time would help to get a longer nap? At this age, most can manage about 1hr 15-20 mins awake time, so you could try stretching her a little bit longer and see if that helps.

Thanks for that, ill have a think about that - she dosent eat much so maybe those little light feeds will help her through!
