NW's getting worse
« on: March 19, 2010, 06:37:00 am »
Hi

Tyler started off pretty good a few weeks ago when we first started to put him in his own bed, he would go down at 7, then wake at 12 and then again at 4, up for the day then at 6.  But for the past week his NW's are getting more frequent, he also has a blocked nose which probably isn't helping matters.  He does eat at every waking, but never taking much apart from the 12 feed which has now moved forward to 11.  I've tried starting to feed every 4 hours as he can stay awake for 2 hours with no trouble.  He's not a great napper but will usually have naps at 8.30am and 11 for around half an hour each, then an hour at 1-2 and another 30-45 min at 4.  Could it just be a growth spurt as he's almost 16 weeks or do we need to go back to 3 hour feeds ?

Thanks

Sarah

I'd say he's overtired which will be making his night wakings worse. He really needs ot be having 3 long (1.5hrs plus) naps to get through the day. At 4 months most LOs will be doing something like this

7am awake
9am nap 1.5-2hrs (if he is doing 30 mins nap, try giving the nap earlier)
10.30am awake
12.30pm nap as above (if previous nap was short, this nap will need to be much earlier)
2pm awake and feed
4pm nap as above
5.30pm awake
7-7.30pm asleep for the night
10.30pm dreamfeed

Hi

Its quite difficult to chart his day as his is more ESA, he's fed every 3 hours and sleeps every 2 hours any longer than 2 hours and he's impossible to put down.  His nap times are roughly
7.30 (no longer than 45 mins)
9.30 (again short nap)
11 (longer nap, around an hour)
1-2 (1 hour)
4 (1 hour)

His bedtime routine then starts at 6.30 with him going down at 7, he then wakes at 12-1, then 4.

Thanks
