What the heck happened?!
« on: April 17, 2010, 21:02:34 pm »
My lo just completely refused her nap, something I've never dealt with before... she had a good 1st nap (1.5), then put her down at her usual time for her 2nd nap with the usual routine.  She seemed like she was falling asleep, sucking on something (thumb? lovey?) but then just kind of snapped out of it and started crawling and playing and sitting up.  She was wide awake it seemed.  Left her there to play, tried to put her down a few times but she kept sitting up.  40 minutes later I just took her out of the crib because clearly she was more into playing than sleeping!

I wonder if maybe she did pass out for like 30 seconds and then woke up thinking nap time was over?  She had a very early wake this morning so perhaps I just totally missed the window and she needed to go down way earlier? Now I'm seeing adrenalin or something?

For the last 10 minutes she's been beside me, standing up for the first time, with one hand holding on to a cardboard box. She is very pleased with herself. She's not even 7 months!  Maybe she's just so excited about all the new movements she can do?

Anyway how on earth do I know how long this A time should be -- she's now been awake 4 hours.  What a monkey.

Thanks...

Probably. :D  I'd watch for sleepy signs and if you catch some yawns, eye rubs, etc, try again.  Failing that, I'd be sure to get a cat nap before bed--using some AP if necessary, car ride, stroller ride, front pack, etc.

Thanks!  I read your post and did just that.  She got a half hour nap in and had some lovely OT NW's through the night. I hope she can settle better today!
