short naps after stopping swaddle
« on: April 21, 2010, 20:54:40 pm »
Hi,

My son is a little over 5 months old and I just stopped swaddling him a couple days ago, because he started rolling over. He used to be a really good sleeper, he took 2-2.5 hour naps every day, his A time was exactly two hours, he was on 4 hour EASY. So, we were right on track, he was happy, I was happy, etc.

Well, now without the swaddle, he wakes himself up after 45 minutes. Is there anything I can do to help him get back to his sleep pattern? Or shall I just wait a little longer and he will fall back into it by himself?

Thanks for all the advice!

v.

I see it's been a few days since you posted--how are things going?

I would say go back to the swaddle, but if he's rolling, sounds like perhaps you're concerned about a safety issue, yes?

It's also possible that he may be ready for just a hair more A time.  You might try adding 5 minutes every 2-3 days or so, to see if being just a little more tired helps him to get through that 45 minute transition.
