TBH Koe I think you will have to go through mornings like this regardless of the W2S - and it sounds as though it actually went really well. You expect him to be cross as you aren't giving him what he wants - but the fact he went back to sleep again for another hour is really great  ;D.

Personally I have no issue with the morning or bedtime bottle at this age. But I also have little interest whether J needs to 'suck for comfort' or not. They really are old enough to drop the sucking and find a different form of comfort anyway. Tracy says up to 3 mths there is a genuine need for this - but not really afterwards. J actually chews his bear for comfort, and at this age I would try and encourage a lovey etc rather than worrying about bottles etc. But equally I wouldn't rush him over to cups unless they are creating an issue  :). No doubt it is easier to ditch them sooner rather than later though and if J did take milk from a cup I probably would just do it as well.

If you are worried about appetite etc then just set some meal and snack times etc. But they do vary day by day anyway - even my shocking eater does that  ;).

Wendy, good job on 5:30 waking.  3:30 is one of the usual waking time of DS, so I'm a bit nervous about that.  Will try 4am, though.  Baby steps are still progress, right?  I am just not sure if he associates cold milk with hard spout because that's what he gets at daycare.  But then like Liz said, it's not really a big issue as long as he SLEEPS!! and not wake in the night.  I can deal with 6am up for the day if only i could get some sleep in the night.

Thanks, Henry1 :)

Liz, I also think it's going very well.  I forgot to mention that he had 2 naps the last 2 days:  and it freaked me out as he only slept 1h the first nap and then 1h30 the second and i had to wake him at 5:30pm.

But today at daycare, he did his usual 2h nap at 12:30.  (Yeah the new usual :D).

So tonight will be night 1 again for w2s to hopefully get rid of 5 or 6:30 EW.  Wish me luck!

Thanks Laura and Wendy.  I wasn't quite sure if w2s is the right thing to do as DS just kind of got over the night bottles if and only if no regression.  *touch wood* and perhaps i might be too ambitious to try to fix it all.  I'm just so sick of being tired and sick all the time.  I know you both are having lack of sleep.

Good luck to all of us tonight!!  hugsss

As you say you need to sleep and LO is old enough to cope with this, at this age we need to kind of lean them towards 'hey, we are a family and it's about co-operation and it's not ok to keep everyone up at night'.  It's just a sleep regression he's going through, you are not starting from scratch so really I think you are good to go.

Lack of sleep certainly does not help the whole daycare bug infestation lol that's for sure.

'hey, we are a family and it's about co-operation and it's not ok to keep everyone up at night'.

I totally agree with this Wendy - especially when all the family is trying to work for a living as well.

((hugs)) ladies

excellent!!! haha  i think our LOs don't realise how lucky they are to have such caring and attentive parents, DH was raised with CIO and he turned out fine but my niece is always a bit scared of failure so she wouldn't want to even try sometimes.

anyway, i wonder what our LO's would say to us when we present BW books to them and a snippet of these discussions we have about them :P  when they are becoming/are parents :P :P

btw... update for today... w2s @ 4am had no effects.  DS woke at 6:10.  Perhaps a bit OT because he was rubbing eyes and whiny the whole morning.  I'll perhaps try 4:30 tonight.  arghhh.. or should i just let it go for the rest of the week to see what he might do by himself??

oh... 7:50pm, on the late side, usually 7:30 but he really really wanted to play a bit and almost no stirring except 1 at about 10pm and 1 at 3:45am.  But he went back to sleep after "cough cough and waaaa waaaa"

I'd give 4.30am w2s a whirl!! I think a lot of bubs wouldn't go back to sleep after the dreaded 10.5hr night!!

Yeah and from my side 6:10 looks delectable lol

We did W2S again at 3ish but then I heard him on and off after that at 4ish and then again at 5ish and finally we got him up at 6.  He was a bit OT yesterday from only napping for 1 hour at daycare.
