What to do when not settling for nap??
« on: May 08, 2010, 19:52:17 pm »
hi there -

7.5 month DS has been doing well with naps lately - usually 2 - 1.5 naps, but sometimes he does an AM nap of 2h15 and a 45 min catnap in the PM which doesn't seem to interfere much with our routine.

However, the past 2 days he has done AM 2h15, PM 45 min and today switched back to AM 1.5.  I put him down for the 2nd nap at his usual A time of 3h20 and he has been fussing/playing/talking in his crib for nearly 50 minutes!  Usually he settles within 5 minutes or so and I've not encountered this before.  I am wondering if the previous 2 days of different naps sets his clock off somehow, making it hard to settle for this next nap.  Does this make any sense to anyone?  Not really sure what to do here - I've tried going in, telling him it's sleepy time, but it only seems to distract.  Should I just take him out and try again for a CN somehow?

Appreciate any thoughts - this little guy is just full of curveballs!

I get this sort of thing sometimes and I usually take him out and try again when I see sleepy signs (sometimes only 30mins later). Not that helpful but bumping it up for you anyway.
