Well I got an 11h15 night last night with NO NWs!!!!  First time in a couple of weeks and a nice birthday present from Austin to me!  What a good kid.  ;D  So something is working!  I'm hesitant to rock the boat today, I might just chicken out and keep doing what I've been doing this week.  Hmm...

Yay for the great night, and happy birthday!  Hope it keeps working for you - I totally agree that if what you did worked then you should do it again.

Thanks ladies. ;D  Will keep on keeping on with naps as they are, then.  Fingers crossed this is the start of good nights again!

Hmm.  Well it seems we're in an OT/UT thing again.

Here's what happened yesterday...

6: A
9:35: S
10:50: A (on his own, was going for 1.5h)
2:25: S
3:40: A (I let him go a little past an hour since the first nap was shorter)
6:45: tried to get him to bed, had to shh/pat
7:25: finally asleep

STTN (I definitely recognize this victory!) until 5:35, so 10h10 for the night.

I think it was my mistake to let him sleep a little longer for the PM nap?   Thinking today I'll keep that nap at 1h no matter what happens for the AM?  I think he was UT for the AM nap yesterday since he finally had a really good night the night before and then letting him sleep longer in the PM made bedtime a battle and therefore too late and so we got an OT EW.  Does that sound logical? Makes me feel better if at least I think I understand what's going on!  ;)

Ahhh!!  Just got home and DH said he took a 1h10 nap this AM.  Argh!  Don't know what to do about the PM nap, then?  Still cut to 1h?  I'm afraid we're going to get into a total OT hole but I don't want to push bedtime back too late again?

Hi there Kate, do you know how much sleep he needs in a 24 hour?  I personally would let him go 1.5 hours and stay on track with bedtime, he'll likely still be tired enough to go at his regular time.

Hi Wendy....Terrific question!!  A couple of weeks ago I would've said 2.75 daytime and 11 nighttime.  But he hasn't had that in WEEKS.  My goal has been to get him 13.25-13.5 but I'm struggling with that as well.

This PM he slept for 55 min.  Yup, that's it.  DH tried to shh/pat but he was rolling over and trying his best to sit up and talk.  Sigh.  I am about ready to pull my hair out.

I'll do bedtime at 6:30 but I anticipate another major battle and who knows for the night.

Just not sure how to get him out of this?!?

Hi there Kate, when we got stuck here the only way was to cut a nap.  I know it's scary, and believe me after finally getting Finn to nap tickety boo twice a day the last thing I wanted to do was cut a nap, but alas, it was what he needed.

What time did you do bedtime in the end and how was it?  Let's see what time he wakes tomorrow and go from there.  And I would also make a point of logging his sleep in a 24 for a few days, just see if you can get an average and have something to work with.

I am going to SCREAM!!!!!

I've been trying to get him down since 6:30.  I shh/patted for 20 min.  He was almost asleep.  He is clearly exhausted.  Then I got fed up so DH was up there and he started trying to sit up and roll over, talk, etc.  So DH ca,me down.  Then he started screaming again.  So I went back up.  Shh/patted some more.  Then he was just babbling away so I gave up and sat on his floor telling him "It's time to sleep."  Then I bailed and just left.  Now it's 7:20 and he's just been up there babbling away for 15 min.  Occasionally he shouts out but that's it.

Ahhhh!!!!  Now who know when the heck he's going to go to sleep and he's just going to be more tired tomorrow and this whole thing is just going to keep spiraling!  This is like a repeat of last night except for the fact that he only slept for 2h today!!  I am so frustrated and mad.  I know he's just going to get more and more OT.

Argh.....

ETA:  Finally asleep.  For now.  Got quiet around 7:30.

Oh love bug hugs to you. You know, mu DS is only 7.5 months and has been doing only total 2 hr of day sleeping for a while...maybe yours is ok on 2 hours? Spose you'll see by what happens tonight. What kind of A times did he have today? Do you think he was OT or UT? Oh, who knows these days! sending love hugs and a stiff drink x

Haha.  A stiff drink!  That's what I should have done last night!

So he slept through until 6:10.  10h40, which is not bad considering everything and is way better than I thought he would do so that's good.

A's yesterday were 3.5, 3.5 and tried for 3 ended up with 4.

I'm going to cut the AM nap to 1h today and see what he does for the PM.  Sigh.

Hi there Kate, that's really ok at 10 mths, honest :-)  I think I would give the nap cut a real go at this point, he might just pull off 11 hours at night then.

Took 20 min to get him down this AM but told the sitter to wake him in an hour as I walked out the door.  We shall see! ;)  I'll keep you posted.
