Wendy, just had to come on to tell you that I probably should have listened to you a week ago!! ::)  The last few days have been pretty bad and I just felt like he was getting more and more OT with tons of NWs, short naps, etc.  I tried to catch him up 2 days ago and he slept for something like 3.5h in the day but then of course was up for 2h at night.  :P  So yesterday I cut the AM nap to 50 min, forgot to go up at 2h for the PM so he slept for 2h10 and then he slept from 7:05-5:15 without a peep last night!!  ;D  He may have even gone back down for a bit before 6.  So still not the longest night but a peaceful one!!!  I am so happy.  So today I'll have the sitter give him 45min and 2h.  Hopefully this is the start of things getting straightened out for a bit, anyhow. ;)

That's great, Kate!  I was so surprised that E had a solid 11 hour night last night after two crazy afternoon CNs.  Thank goodness.  This morning he went 3 hours of A - so it looks like we're slowly climbing out of the OT hole.  It's so funny to see - but he's gone from morning As of 2:30 to 3 hours steadily this week.  Good luck with today - let us know how the same routine fairs a second time around!

It does take time to sort these kids out ladies, I won't lie.  We have only just had some consecutive days of waking after 6 a.m. - for the first time in nearly 15 mths.  So it does/can/will get better with time and perseverance and a little help from your friends (BW) ;-)

Also I dug up my old post here for a fun read, mainly for Kate because hopefully Elijah is still in the land of 2 regular naps for a while :-)

I am very happy to read that you are both making progress though!  I will keep all fingers and toes crossed!!!

Glad E had a good night, M!  Fingers crossed it keeps up.

Ah, Wendy, I remember this thread!  Will give it a read again once I get some work done.  It's funny, Finn has always seemed so much older than Austin to me but it also feels like just the other day that I was reading this thread when he was right where Austin is!!  Time flies, huh?

Ahhhh!!!!!!  I just got home and the sitter let him sleep an hour this AM even though I wrote in 2 places (with lots of underlines) to wake him at 45 min!!!  She took him right up for wind down when she got here so we didn't get to talk in person but I always leave a note with the routine for the day and what's the point if she doesn't do it???  WTH? I am so aggravated.  I like this girl but sometimes she just doesn't do what I ask her to do.   Argh!!  So of course PM nap was shorter than I wanted it to be since he was UT with that A time.  Ahhhh.....I hope tonight goes ok regardless and she promised she'll be on board tomorrow.  Argh!!!!

Kate, I want you in bed early tonight ;-)  You need the rest.  Tomorrow is a new day :-)

It is frustrating, I used to just let the nanny do what she did and clean up everything later.  It was too hard to explain BW and it also meant that Finn had to learn to go to sleep with her - I mean she did the general principles and put him down when I told her, for the most part.  But I totally get where you are coming from.

Wendy, your post almost made me cry.  I think I am *just* a little OT myself, huh? ;)

Sigh.  I'm getting over it.  You're right, tomorrow is a new day and who knows, maybe tonight won't be bad.  Fingers crossed. :D

I will cross mine too, and really, if it is as hot in NY as it is here in TO the heat really is an energy sapper and makes people edgy and tired.  Put off what you can, and just rest, veg, lay in bed with a book, take a bath whatever you need to do and catch some early zzz's in case little A man pulls shenanigans ;-)

Yep, it's ridiculously hot here, too.  Poor DH.  I was so crabby when he got home and then I basically could not make a decision on what I wanted for dinner.  Poor guy offered about 8 things before I agreed to something!  I hate being hot and exhausted!!  I will definitely try to get to bed in my air conditioned room early to get ready for the night.  In good news, we did not have major bedtime battles so maybe that's a good sign?

Thanks for the support, Wendy, it means a lot. :D

Interestingly we had a slight refusal here lol  Maybe they are taking turns.  We are trying to get Finn down earlier in the week due to his short napping at daycare but after his later bedtimes these days, he ain't having it.  Had him in bed by 7:20 and he was babbling and bouncing around until just now, 7:43.  Arrgh.

No worries, I remember how hard it was, it wasn't that long ago I had to cut that nap and try to figure out why everything was going wrong.  It was a tough time because there were teeth to contend with as well - and we moved in the middle of it all.  These kids always like to have lots of developmental stuff on the go.

Oh, hugs.  Silly Finn.  He just wants to stay up and play, huh?  Still no long nap at DC?

Thankfully Austin's top 2 teeth finally cut through the other day so at least that's out of the equation.  But there is always something, it seems. :P

Ok, so all that freaking out for nothing.  He slept....almost 12 hours!!! ;D ;D ;D  I can't remember the last time he did that!  I did hear him a couple of times this morning but he kept going back to sleep (I'm pretty sure).  I got up before he did!  Crazy.  And he's usually a pretty happy kid but this morning he's laughing, smiley, and just amazingly happy.  See, Austin, sleeping is fun!  Of course, I woke up a few times but overall I slept pretty well. :D  Yay!

I hope Finn didn't give you any trouble last night...

Yay!  So maybe A is stabilizing on this nap business?  Maybe stick with the 1 hr for a bit.  If it ain't broke don't fix it.  Honestly I do not think it is possible to get through 2-1 without having to climb out of many OT holes so you guys are doing great!!

We had a great night too.  He woke on his own at 6 but that's fine.

Well I left her with strict instructions to do 1h this AM. ::)  But I think after such a long night that that will be good.  We did it a few days ago and it was working.   Will keep you posted.  Glad to know that this is no fun but it is normal!!

Melinda, he'll get there.  That or I'll be right back with you soon!
