Claudia, I'm making a sour face just reading your question :P! I would probably try sweetening it with pureed pears (or another fruit), but I wouldn't use regular white sugar. If she doesn't like it mixed with a sweet fruit then I'd hold off until after 12 months and then I'd try honey.

Rhubarb curdles milk so not sure what it does in your stomach! Even when my mum was breastfeeding and ate rhubarb once it REALLY upset my brother's stomach ???

I made rhubarb about this time last year for my DS so he was prob about 10 months old - I used used strawberry puree and apple puree mixed with it to sweeten it up, and a small sprinkling of sugar as well.  It was lovely!

i've had rhubarb this season and she had no reaction from the milk, so i think she'll be fine with it that way. i never thought of mixing it with a sweet fruit, thanks for the hint! we'll try that at lunchtime and see what she thinks, i shall report back...

good news: fed it to holly with apricot puree and she liked it. also remembered that we make strawberry rhubarb pudding, so i guess strawberry is a nice one to pair it with.
