So a quick update...
She had a NW around 2 or something--just resettled her to sleep. She then woke at 4(sort of normal since dropping the DF) and I fed her 3 ounces and put her right back down-she slept till 715am. So, Im happy about getting to 7....might be easier to get rid of the 4 am feeding rather than the ew...
off I go to extend A time...

I think that's progress. That's really good progress. With any routine, just takes a little bit of time and patience.

Good work, mommy.

Had a GREAT day today!!!
2 naps in total-1.5 each!!! and she wasn't OT when she went to bed!
I think what helped was to get her out of the house to extend her A time--ie, walk in the stroller etc...
Our day looked like this:
wake 7
sleep 10
wake 1130
sleep 210
wake 350
sleep 640-bed for the night
She went down really well, and no noise since then...
So far so good......will update tomorrow!!

Yeah for you Sarah!

We had a bad one today.... started off on the wrong foot and never got back on track!  I think it was OT, UT, then CN... but she went to bed fine.

I have a super hard time with the first nap if I don't know EXACTLY when she woke up.... for example, this morning I heard her talking on the monitor around 6:40 am, but I went back to sleep and didn't get up until 7:30.  DH said she was awake when he went into her room then... but not sure if she'd been up since 6:40 or not?

Anyway, I put her down for her first nap at 10:00 b/c she was getting really fussy.  If she'd been up since 6:40, then she was OT... if she'd only been up since 7:30ish then she was probably UT!  Either way, she wasn't happy when she got up. :(  Oh the drama.

I can't complain too much - had 2 great days this weekend.... hoping to recreate things tomorrow - for my sanity! :)

Been a few days..but thought I'd update....
So, yesterday morning she woke @ 430, I fed her 3 ounces and she went back down till 730 (yay)--I'd rather sleep till 7 after waking earlier for 10 min, than wake @ 6 for the day. Last night, she went to bed @ 7--and woke at 540.
I fed her 3 ounces, but she wouldn't resettle-so 540 was wake up time. I even tried to leave her in her crib, but she didn't last more than 5 minutes.
Naps have been going well, she is going about 1.5 hours on average, and is able to stay awake 2.45 to 3 hrs for A time...
I suppose it is possible she doesn't need 12 hours of sleep...but maybe mor enear 10.5-11?

Hi Sarah,
Noticed you were giving great advice on another thread...wonderful that you're paying it forward :)

Here's a link to typical day and night sleep
http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=85130.0

Apologies if you've seen it before.

I find as they get older (and yours is going to be 8 months soon! :o) there's no clear cut amount..like my lo sleeps for exactly 11.5 hours, yk? I find they're like us. Some days we want to lie in an extra bit or want to get the day started bc we feel refreshed from a shorter night! If she's hitting that range between 10.5 and 12 hours of sleep - that's wonderful! Since she is getting two naps during the day still, her nights may be a bit shorter than if she's older. It's not until she starts hitting the 2-1 that her nights may get a bit longer bc she's not napping as much during the day. they tend to want to do their sleeping at night. Does that make sense?

HTH!

sorry to jump in here on this thread but i'm having the exact same sleeping problems as you sjeb! i am taking the advice that everyone is giving you!
one thing...jiinx, you said that when your LO woke up at 4 for a feed you would let them eat just for about 30-60 seconds after letdown.  i'm wondering if this would work for earlier NF. im really trying to get my 8month old son away from the frequent night feedings because he isn't HUNGRY in teh morning.  we have been doing really well so far.  i was able to get him 7 hours without a feed last night, then he woke up again at 5:20 for the day.  anyway, i'm going off track here......do you think that trick would work for a 2am night feed??????thanks for letting me jump in!
Loving BW!

mjn7678, welcome!
Do you mean to let your Lo feed during one of his night wakings for 30-60 seconds?

hmm if the answer is yes to sarah's question then I would be reluctant to have a short feed like this at night. The reason being is that it's a NW, and most likely they are waking due to hunger, if it's not OT or UT, ykwim? You could try it, if you want, and see if they wake up after?

It's still common at your lo's age to feed once at night. However, if he isn't feeding properly in the morning you could try a bottle of water or do the 30-60 second feed as well. I was still feeding my lo at 7-7 and half months and one day she didn't wake up for it :o

Do you have a post somewhere with your routine and/or your breastfeeding concerns?

thanks so much. i'm going to post my EASY routine in another thread  to see if i'm doing things ok....i appreciate the advice.....i'm going to try the 30-60 sec trick if he wakes in the early morning, but i'll plan on keeping at least one night feeding......hoping i have the same luck and one day he will stop waking up in the middle of the night!
Loving BW!
