Need help with EASY
« on: May 28, 2010, 19:47:42 pm »
I am new to the boards...I read the book and have followed the EASY schedule since about 4-5 months old and its has gone fairly smooth until now.  We are transitioning her into her crib which could be one issue.  She has slept in her pack n play until now.  She is crawling and pulling up on things.

Here was her normal schedule, but we have been struggling for a week or so now:

Wake 630-7a

E- 6-8oz bottle
E- Breakfast (oatmeal, fruit, or yogurt) between 8-830a
A-
S- 9-10:30 or 11a (usually 1.5hr nap)

E- 3oz bottle
E- 12p Lunch Veggies & Fruit
A- (eats another 3oz bottle before going back down for nap)
S- 130 or 2 until 3-4p (1.5-2hr) nap

E- Snack (applesauce/fruit/or yogurt) + start on bottle normally drinks 2oz
A-

I pick her up from sitters around 530p and we are home by 6p

E- Dinner at 6ish Veggies/Fruit

Bath at 7

Finish bottle 730

Bed by 8

Now before she hit her milestones I could have her in bed by 7-730 but since she has started crawling she tries to push it to 8, but with the transition to the crib and being able to stand she is giving me a fit at bed time.  She has always been an independent sleeper, but now I'm having to rock and/or hold her with strength to keep her from "twitching" per se.  I can tell she is tired, but she refuses to go to bed.  I do the pick up, put down and it seems never ending.  It always ends with me rocking her to sleep.  She has now started NW and what I consider EW about 6-615.   Might I add that she still does not have teeth, so we are definitely dealing with teething also.  I have tried Motrin before bed and we still have NW.  I did go in and lay her back down and have the EW back to the 630a mark, but the problem is she went to bed at 830-9 so she is not sleeping 10+ hours like I think she needs to be.

I really prefer her to be on a schedule that consists of 2 naps a day and a 10-12 hr sleep at night.  I'm not too particular on wake and bed times although I miss the 7pm bedtime b/c it was easier for me to get more done in the evenings!!  I just need some advice on how to get back on track even if its with one thing at a time!!!  Please any response is greatly appreciated.

Hi Kristen & welcome to the boards :)

How old is your lo, I'm guessing around 7 months old or something?

Since, you guys have no issues with naps, I think it's more of a problem that the last A before bed is too long, almost 4 hrs, which I think is causing all of these problems. So, I'm thinking you need to move bedtime to 07.30 or maybe even 7, so that the last A isn't too much for her, what do you think?

I really prefer her to be on a schedule that consists of 2 naps a day and a 10-12 hr sleep at night.

Yes I would love to move bedtime up!  She seems to be fighting though which she has never done, but maybe its b/c of the milestones?  she is 10 months old a new crawler and has learned how to pull up!  I am going to try my best this weekend to move bed time up.  I think maybe I'm missing her prime sleepy time and then she has the OT hyperness!

Thanks for your suggestions I will let you know what happens.  She didn't go down until 8 tonight, but her last wake time was 4ish

I really think your answer is moving that bedtime and about the crawling, let her have as much practice as possible during the day. We did go through a phase with ds when he started crawling as well, where we'd have unexplained NWs, so those things happen as well.

Good luck & keep us posted!
