Well with teething I always merrily AP'd my way thorugh it! Luckily DS was quite adaptable though. If staying doesn't seem to be helping much then I owuld be inclined to see what happens when you leave him to it. If his cry escaslates then go in and reassure him without lifting perhaps?

(((((hugs)))))) This teething business ain't easy.

I have been APing a LOT these days and I have a feeling that he has come to rely on it now to settle in.  Last night I went for PU/PD for all NWs and I decided to stay there with him until he settled without picking him up and it worked pretty well.  It seems easier at night because he can't see me all the way but still knows I'm there.  However the naps are a bit rough right now and he can't seem to get there so I have been resorting to the swing for both naps.  My guess is that the motion helps distract him from the teeth because this has never ever worked in the past.  In your opinion, do you think it's okay to continue with naps in the swing, PU/PD at night?  I really don't want to confuse him, but I know he is somewhat OT and he needs his sleep, especially during the day.  I just don't want to send mixed messages you know?

Thank you again for your help - I'm feeling much less out of control these days and hopeful that we'll get through this teething nonsense  :)

Well the general consensus is to be consistant with pu/pd in order for it to work best BUT Tracey also said that pu/pd is not an appropriate tool if the bub is in any pain. SO I guess its really your call hun, a hard one I know! Perhaps you could try settling him in the cot for naps and after perhaps 30 mins or so you think it going ot be a no-go then resort to AP? It depends entirely on your LO, like I mentioned previously it never seemed to get us off track that much to AP but not all bubs are the same.

Sounds like nights are going ok considering he's having such a rough time cutting this/these teeth!

Sorry hun, not much help but I can assure that this too shall pass!

((((hugs)))))

hmmm....it is a tough call.  Do you happen to know when the worst part of teething is over?  Isn't it when the teeth are cutting through that you can hope for a happier, more pain-free baby? (assuming there are no other teeth lurking around ::))  His tooth has broken the surface, and I wonder if things may be on the mend, for now....

Looks like this is the beginning of the many difficult decisions of parenting...

Not too sure hun. Some mums say it it can be 3 days before the tooth breaks, 3 days whilst the tooth breaks and then 3 days after! Brodie is the kind of kid that tends to cut them in sets if 2 or 3 at a time so it always seems like it goes on forever for us when its happening.  :-\

If the tooth has cut and it looke loike no more are popping through he my have well come through the other side though.  :)

Just wanted to say thank you so much for all your help and support.  Though we are still battling some OT, DS is doing so much better at night now that he has re-learned his sleeping skills.  Last night we had no NWs and just an EW upon which he went back to sleep, which isn't too bad!

Looks like we may be coming out on the other side - just in time for 2-1 I'm sure!  ::)

Thank you again Emma  :)

Great news!  ;D

There will always be something to keep us on our toes with these LO's! I hope you are managing to catch up on some rest yourself.  :-*
