easy on 3 bottles?
« on: June 07, 2010, 02:31:09 am »
Can someone please show me what an easy schedule should look like for an 8 month old who is only taking 3 bottles.
My DS gets up at 5:30 am, but I hold him off on eating until 6 am. With three bottles a day I confused with the last meal and the the last bottle. If he has his afternoon bottle at noon and his lunch at 1:00 and a nap at 2:00 that makes his next meal a solid b/c his last bottle should be right before bed. If he goes to bed at 7:00 how do I do it?

E: 6:00am milk 8oz
    7:00 am solids

S 9:00-11:00

E 12:00 milk 7 oz
   1:00 solids

S 2:00-3:30

??????????here is where my question comes into play?????????????

E: 5:30 Solids
7:00 Bottle (when I do this he isn't eating as much, should I try a later bedtime?)

Any help in this silly matter would be of value.
Thanks

I'm guessing that after his solids supper, maybe he isn't hungry enough for a bedtime bottle. Do you offer a snack after the 2nd naptime?  Perhaps making supper earlier he would take the bottle at bedtime.

I wouldn't make bedtime later if he is getting up at 5:30 every morning, in fact now that I think on it he might not want that bottle because he is tired, if anything I would push bedtime earlier.  We usually try for a 12 hour day and night or as close as possible!

Oh, and I think by 8-10 months I stopped the milk at bedtime and gave it earlier, it never affected her sleep at all. We did water in a sippy cup at story time instead.

good to know about the 12 hr day/night. i thought maybe ne was getting to much sleep. Good to know about the bottle being a little earlier rather then just prior to bed time.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post

Actually if I am adding right I think he is getting about 14 hours a day?  At that age we were at around 15-16 ish (I think...memory is not all that good anymore!) and now we are at about 13.5. Spencer is a pretty average sleep needs kid, is your lo too?
