11 mo and started to NW
« on: June 07, 2010, 05:36:49 am »
Hi  I have been following baby whisperer and up until know it has worked a treat with little ones routine being:-

6.30-7.00am awake and feed eight ounces
8.30am solids
10.00am-11.00am sleep 1hr
12.00pm solids
1.30pm feed 8 ounces
2.00pm asleep 1hr-1.5hrs
5.00pm solids
7.00pm asleep

However we found recently after being a good indendent sleeper he would start to cry we left the room so we didnt pick him up but would put a hand on his back and gently tell him it was time to sleep.  This has been working but I am not sure if it has become a prop as he starts to cry again if he is not asleep.  He has been sleeping through the night from 7 months but last night he woke regularly from 10pm to 1pm he is possibly teething could this be the reason.  He has woken a few times previous nights and we have had to soothe him but the night before last night he slept through no problem.  He missed an afternoon nap a few days ago could he be overtired

Should I be trying another method of getting him to sleep or is this OK and if it is his teeth do you think he will gradually just get back to normal as when he wakes he is hysterically crying not just a little.

Thanks for the advice

Hi there, it does sound like teething really.  Are you medicating?

It is possible he needs more A time, at 11-12 mths there is a jump normally.  But I wouldn't rock the boat during the day until I ruled out teething.

What you are doing by reassuring him in the crib without PU is fine.

If he wakes up a few times we do medicate as we had an idea it might be teething, will keep an eye on it but thanks for the advice think I just wanted someone else to take a look  :)

Hi there, no worries, sometimes we find that we have to medicate before bed and then again with a DF top up of meds about 6 hours in.  It sometimes helps.

Good luck, teething is a bear at times.
