Hi Sara,
Thank you so much for your message. I am so sorry that I have not replied sooner unfortunately it has been a bit of a crazy house here! My DH is sick for after returning from being away and gave it to my DD. Then my DS started teething as well so has been a bit mayhem. Having said that I have had a few really great days with DS and his routine. I decided to try and cut back on the activities for a while and stay put to try and get this sorted and at first it did seem to work. Here is how the first couple of days went:
8th June
4.20pm - rice cereal
4.50pm - DD dinner
5.20pm - bathed both babies
5.45pm - DD watches favourite show and feed DS
6.05pm - DS into bed (could not keep him awake)
6.40 - DS stirs so I do shhh pat
6.50pm - DS asleep
3.45am - feed
6.30am- awake
Then I had some really good naps for the next couple of days 1.5 hr, then 2hrs and then another 1hour nap.
However, yesterday it all went downhill. We had to go out to Ikea and my DS does not like sleeping out. He only had a 45min nap before we left, then cat-naped in the car there and back and had only 30mins in the afternoon. Today has been even worse just refusing to go down for his naps and when he does only for 30-45mins. Nothing I do can try and extend them. I am planning on staying home all day tomorrow to try and get him to have some proper sleep but then unfortunately he has to have his injections on Tuesday so who knows what will happen then.
My biggest question right now is that every night for the past week when I put him to sleep he is either very sleepy from his feed or asleep. Then he stirs within 5-40mins of going down to bed. I go in and do the shhh pat and it works pretty well I have him back in bed within5-15mins. How can I avoid this? It never happens at any other time of day and he used to put himself to sleep no problem and then not wake up. Also, when I feed him in the middle of the night he falls asleep whilst feeding and seems to be fine?
Any advice on this would be much appreciated as I am finding it a bit challenging to have to re-settle when I have just put him to bed and started on getting my DD to bed.
Many thanks!
