Amy, I would think half a cup each of unsweetened applesauce and brown sugar might work?

Mmm... tabouli...

What is tabouli?

Anyone have a recipe for flapjacks? Preferably some low sugar ones but I can tinker if you just have a regular one?

Been away all last week & ds is a real pain that I'm coming to dread meal times :(..he's open his mouth for the first or second spoons and then zap..!...& if I let him have finger food he's eat very little :(

Do you guys still spoon feed your lo's?

Will be making the gnocchi bake for tonight and maybe try Cathy's tuna tomorrow, let's just pray ds will eat any :(...have also decided to try peanut butter, so might get some today :)

I avoid spoon feeding because it is hit and miss whether DS will take it. He also has about 2 spoons and decides against it often.

I only spoon feed things like yogurt or applesauce. DH won't let me spoon anything else, though he will let me fork or finger feed him bites of things IF he is feeding himself at same time with something else LOL. So like at dinner, he might feed himself sweet potato "fries" and deign to let me feed him bites of chicken or something...

Flapjack recipe - a UK friend of mine gave me this recipe - keep meaning to try it myself!

Ingredients
150g butter, plus extra for greasing
150g ready-to-eat, soft, stoned dates
3 tbsp apple juice
30g toasted whole hazelnuts, finely chopped
100g ready-to-eat dried apricots, finely chopped
225g porridge oats
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 190°C/fan170°C/gas 5. Grease and line a shallow 17.5cm-square tin with baking paper.
2. Put the dates and apple juice in a food processor and whizz until smooth. Melt the butter in a large pan over a low heat. Add the date purée and all the other ingredients. Stir well, then press into the tin with damp hands. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until just golden.
3. Remove from the oven and cool for 10 minutes. Cut into squares in the tin. Cool completely before turning out and cutting again to separate.

I still spoon feed, keep trying to get DS to do it himself but he seems too lazy and gets annoyed and wants me to do it! He will feed himself finger food at snack time and I try to get him to fingerfeed some things at mealtimes. Really feel it's time he was feeding himself more but it just gets him so wound up that he then refuses to eat!

I don't do spoon feeding as DD is much older - tho as we did BLW I never did anyway.

Khalam's Mama - I have a savoury flapjack recipe which doesn't use any sugar at all (it's cheese, eggs, oats and butter - can also add veggies too). Let me know if you want the recipe - wasn't sure if you wanted a sweet treat or just an oat-based treat.

Karen - thanks for sharing your sweet flapjack recipe - might just have to try them  ;)

Amy - no, I didn't use your granola bar recipe (but I will at some point  :-*) - will bore you with the details on the menu planning thread of the recipe I used - have to say that Granola Bars are very good tho and I'm blame you for starting me on a new craze  ;)

Today
B: rice crispies & milk, few dry CN cornflakes on the side, innocent smoothie
S: 2 x berry & spice oatcakes, water
L: (out) child's egg mayo sandwich, small sausage roll with brown sauce for dipping, jelly, small carton OJ - plus a dried apricot and a couple of dried cranberries when we got home - DD requested them
S: none - not sure why . . . I was working this aft (don't usually do Monday) and when I got back DH said he'd not given her on as she hadn't asked (usually the first words she utters when she gets up from nap are 'snack please'  ::)) By the time she was interested in snack it was too near dinnertime
D: sausage 'meatballs' in a tomatoey sauce with rice (ate a decent amount today), yoghurt, melon, another dried apricot and a couple of dried cranberries, milk and biscuit

Today:-

B - cornflakes, 1/2 banana
S - A fewminim gingerbread man, not sure what else, in childcare
L - lasagne, 2 yogurts
S - A couple of bits of apple - slight success as he did put them in his mouth and chew them for a while, but they eventually came back out! Some crackers
D - Tuna pie, yogurt
S - few mouthfuls of DH's curry and rice - seemed to like this quite a lot!

Not such a great eating day - thinking teeth but who knows. Not wanting to feed self much and really fussy. Mainly wanted the yogurt and applesauce today and of course the fruit.

B: few bites whole wheat raisin toast with cream cheese, half a wheatabix with milk
L: yogurt with added carrot/apple/parsnip puree, 1/3 veggie burger, grapes and blueberries
S: goldfish crackers (probably too many/too late)
D: tiny bit slow cooked Mediterranean chicken (but refused more and refused pasta), applesauce and half natural/whole grain cereal bar with blackberry filling

Haven't been able to get him to eat pasta at all (other than in chicken noodle soup) in ages - I wonder why? Have tried different shapes, different sauces, etc...

Also - forgot to add that after that poor dinner last night, Matty had 2/3 of a banana before bed last night.

And with pasta - he will eat my veggie lasagna (though not as vigorously as before) but that is it...
