NW and when to go in?
« on: June 15, 2010, 08:13:05 am »
We are experiencing NW with an 8 month old and reading your posts, i think it is quite common. She has recently learnt to crawl, pull up, move from room to room, eat etc. Also, the last couple of days, she has been really clingy and hysterical when i have come back from the gym/work, she was fine when i went and fine when i was there - it's like when i came back - she realised i had gone - so i am thinking the beginings of Separation Anxiety.
So anyway, in the past if she wakes at night my reaction is this: if it is a real cry ie distress, i go straight away. If it is just a bit of grizzling, i wait and see if she will self settle - normally she does within about 10 mins, so i don't go to her. Her moaning and groaning is getting longer - so i go in - sometimes she is moaning and groaning in her sleep and then i wake her up and make things worse - this morning she got quite hysterical, i fed her tried to resettle, but nothing - so we started the day and 5am. Anyway, i am wondering if i am making things worse by going in - should i leave her to resettle, keeping in mind she isn't crying - or will this be more damaging than the disruption of going in, considering we might have separation anxiety.
One more question, how long does this stage go on for - we are all exhausted!!

Hi there, some hugss for you as I so feel for you.  If you see that she isn't really awake, I wouldn't wake her.  But perhaps can u post your EASY so that the moderators or others can see if it needs some tweaking?

It's also possible that she's teething.  Hope it will improve soon.  :*

Hello,
If you think she is having something like nightmares, maybe you could sleep in with her on a blow up bed for a few nights so you can see what is going on without having to disturb her if she is not actually awake.
Good luck
