leaving baby for a day - how best to manage?
« on: June 20, 2010, 12:25:18 pm »
Hi. On Saturday I'm going to be leaving then 13 wk old DD with my parents in law for the day. I have been working very hard on EASY and napping over the past week and although we're nowhere near perfect we are making progress.

I was wondering what the best way is to make sure there isn't too much disruption when I leave her with someone else for the day. I doubt they'll have the patience required to settle her properly for naps (and especially not to extend them), so I was going to suggest they AP the naps (by taking her out in the pram) and stick to approximate feed times.

Any thoughts?

I don't know about anyone else but that is what I did.  I had surgery when dd was about that age and I and my DH were gone for the day.  My mom watched dd and I asked her just to follow the schedualed feeding times and I gave her round about times that she might get tired but I figured that for one day that early it wasn't going to scar her and it wasn't like it was DH or myself who was doing it :)

I'd do the same.  For the sake of one day I'd just tell them feeding times and then say she'll prob sleep at these times but for me it was more important she was fed on time.  I know when I left my LO at about 20 weeks I also told my sister if she wouldn't settle to take her for a drive or for a walk.  It worked out grand by the way!!
