Naps are crazy, help!!
« on: July 05, 2010, 14:00:47 pm »
I havent been on BW for so long, how are you all!! Wesley is now weeks away from 2 years old, it's so hard to believe!  We're having an issue with naps. Up until a few weeks ago a regular day was w
7am wake up
12:00-2:00-2;30ish nap
7 pm bedtime

This past week naps are nuts. One day he'll nap a regular 2+ hour nap with a regular bedtime, the next he'll totally refuse nap, I thought it was overtired as it happened on days we had gone to the park in the am. He does not make up for no nap with a later sleeping the next morning.Another day he'll take a 3 hour nap.

We had two weeks of illness, company for a week and then a week of teething.Soooooo, do I just be patient and expect his napping to get more regular since he has had such a crazy few weeks? I'm so stuck, could he just be overtired and I'm not catching it, is it just as simple as teething, is he ready to shorten his sleeping during the day or during the night?

I hope that it is enough info for you, let me know what you all think. Thanks!

Melissa:-)

Hi,
Are the nights still ok?
It could be the recent few weeks like you say but 5 hours A does not seem much to me for a 2 year old. Could you maybe push it out to 12.30pm and see if that helps. I doubt he is OT if he is STTN especially with a good 12 hour night.

It's so hard to say if he's waking because of teething or not. Nights have been ok, some wakings but I think it's because of the teeth, sickness, etc....

Ever since he's gone to one nap he's gone down at 12, should I bump it a bit? What if it messes with bedtime?

Thanks for your help!

yes, I think if he keeps refusing it I would push it to 12.30pm. Personally I think at 2 that 2 hours is enough so it should not mess with his bedtime. Maybe give it a go and see.
