not allowed to search

hello,
when I try to search, I get a message saying that I'm not allowed to search for any posts. how can I fix this?

Sadly, you can't. When the search feature was activated, the whole rest of the board would crash, and it was happening several times a day. They had to deactivate Search in order to keep the rest of the site working! We're working on getting a new server at some point, but in the meantime it's not available.

Is there anything we can help you find? Some of us have a bunch of posts memorized! You can also just browse the FAQ sections at the topof each forum; lots of questions about common problems have been answered there.

Oh! I thought I had a problem with my account.
There's nothing I'm searching in particular, every post I see is very useful for me anyways. Just from time to time, I want to search for something specific, without being interrupted by reading other very useful topics
But thank you very much for replying so quickly.

The search function has been working again for a month or so.  I used it yesterday no probs.  I did chose to only look up posts from the last 365 days vs the default 999 I think.  It did take a while to process but found what I needed on the 3rd suggestion.  So not sure, if you just didn't wait long enough for the search to complete?

but I can't even open the search page, says;

An Error Has Occurred!
You are not allowed to search for posts in this forum.

where do you find the "look up posts from the last 365 days" option? can you copy paste the link? What I did was type in words in the search box above the pages, or the "search" link under the "User CP". Those are where I get the error message.

just a quick clarification:  as far as I can tell, the search function is currently restricted to the moderating and admin team.  There is a problem with the function, and it appears to have been disabled to the general membership until the webmaster figures out what the problem is & if it is fixable.
