Hi charlotte!

i dont think thats too bad a night. At least Ellie got the idea with the WIWO.Id keep up with her meds at both bedtime and naptime, cos you dont want more NW with teeth!! And at naptime id give her some too cos that might help her sleep a bit better if her teeth are bothering her.

would it help if you sleep trained one of them b4 tackling the other one?would that be easier on you? id be inclined to stick with Ellie been as you have already done the WIWO with her.

i do think as Anna said they could do with napping a little longer as this may be contributing to the NW if thay are a bit OT.my DD is about a month older than your 2 and she will regularly nap 1hr.30/45 and i think from your routine they dont nap that well? i am right?

i think you did the right thing holding off a bit with Freddie.you need to give them chance to settle themselves before rushing in.you need to work out the difference to 'im not happy about this' to a 'i need you' cry.

i hope you get a decent nap today and then get stuck in again tonight!

well done !!

Normally Ellie settles quiet quickly but last night nope.... it must have been her teeth she kept calling out for me, my partner helped as well with the walk in walk out method too as i dont want her to get used to just me doing it and me going in when she calls me. I will continue with this method and you may be right with training one first.

They do nap well during the day they can sleep up to 1.5 to 2 hours and sometimes i have to wake Ellie up after 2.5 hours?

I am going to give it a real go as of tonight as i am at work today and then not back in to work until next Wednesday. And at least if i do it this way if i have had a really bad night with them then i can nap when they nap?

My mum reckons i should just keep watering the milk down until it is just water? Freddie had 4oz last night at 4am and 2 was milk and the 2 was water and he was happy with that? what do you think?

Regards

Charlotte

With WIWO, remember you don't go in just because they call you or shout for you - wait for a real cry. I'm like Lucy, I prefer to go cold turkey and deal with the few rough nights rather than prolong things.

Will feel guilty about the me napping but if i am going to do this then at least i can try and catch up on sleep as sleep training 2 toddlers is going to be really really hard and exhausting!

I will try and do cold turkey with the bottle. As i know its wrong giving in and giving the bottle its a bad habit that i have got into and need to get out of it.

I am on my own tonight as my partner is away think its going to be a long night!

Thank you again for your comments and advice

x

Well i did it and it wasnt that bad! They both to bed at 7pm and must have been asleep by 7.45pm. Freddie woke at 12.45 crying and ignored him and then after 15 minutes i went in and tucked him back in, he started crying again so i went back in after another 15 minutes he was standing in his cot so i laid him back down and he went back to sleep stired a few times but again i ignored him and he woke at 7.30 this morning!

Ellie woke at 4 and cried until 5.30am again i would leave it  15 minutes and go in she kept saying milk when i went in but i just laid her back down, she woke this morning at 8am!

I dont feel to bad this morning actually now i have started it i will carry on, lets hope they get the hang of it by next Tuesday as i have work on Wednesday.

xxx

Its going ok still sticking with it they seem to take it in turns to go through the night but since Thursday i have had 2 nights where they have both gone through the night which is great! If Freddie wakes he will for only about 10 minutes but he is happy to settle himself back to sleep sometimes i go in if he is really crying i tuck him in and give him his teddy and he goes back to sleep happy.

Ellie is a bit differnt she can be awake for about hour and a half, I ted to doze tho which isnt too bad but when i do go she is still saying "milk" i tell her that she is a big girl and that she doesnt need it! she i teething as well which doesnt help but so far so good.

I'm a bit worried tho as we are off our hols in a few weeks and worried that i will be back at square one! they are also going to have to share a room as well which i'm not sure how that is going to go down! But i will stick to no milk and the WIWO and hope they are good.

There is a programme on tonight on Channel 4 at 9pm about how to get your children sleeping through the night, so i will that, but what you have told me to do seems to be working great, hopefully by this time next week there will be no night waking!

A much happier and not so tierd Charlotte x

Thats gr8! stick with it as best you can and get straight back to it as soon as you get back.just dont give in on the milk!

have you tried giving Ellie meds as a a DF when you go to bed in case she is waking cos her teeth are bothering her?
