WHAT NOW?! Not sure what to 'do'.
« on: July 31, 2010, 22:52:35 pm »
Hi
I have previously posted on here and the advice I was given really worked - my LO was waking around 45 mins after going to sleep at night. A couple of people suggested she might be OT. I have sorted her naps out and she now sleeps from 7(ish) to 11(ish) at which point she wakes up and whinges. She's not hungry so I know I don't need to feed her; she's not doing her 'I need you' cry so I can't do PU/PD but it's not quite her 'I'm just about to go to sleep' cry either. It's a strange one and I'm not sure how to respond? I feel like I'm waiting for her to get more worked up so I can start 'DOING' something, but I feel sure that there is a way to help her get back to sleep - any suggestions? She is 7.5MO, eating 3 meals a day plus snacks and BF (she also has a consistent 3am NW at which point I do feed her because she is giving me her hunger cues but I WOULD LOVE to drop this feed!! :D)

Any advice appreciated.

Natasha.

My 'typical' EASY is as follows (but sometimes she wakes at 6am and has an extra catnap around 7.30am ish)

E - 7am - wake up and BF, eats breakfast around 8am
A
S - 9am - naptime, typically 45 mins but do W2S or PUPD to extend to 1- 1.5hrs
E/A -10.30am - small snack and activity
E - 12pm - lunch
A - usually involves taking my DS to nursery at 1pm
S - 1.15/1.30pm - naptimes as above
E/A - 3pm - BF and activity afterwards
S - 5/5.30pm - Catnap in the car on the way to collect DS from nursery (about 20-30mins)
E - 6pm - dinner
A - 6.15pm - calm play til bed at
S - 6.45/7pm - usually takes about 20 mins for her to get to sleep w/me 'helping'

She then wakes at 11ish, 3am (for feed) and past couple of nights have included a 4am wakeup too.

She doesn't have a dummy or take a bottle. She does have a bear and a blanket but she's not that bothered about either of them on most nights.

Natasha x

Will definitely try to extend her A times - someone has suggested similar for extending her short naps. Hopefully the routine tweak will sort out her sleeping. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for your advice, it's MUCH appreciated!!

Natasha.

Isobel STTN last night - for the first time ever in her cot. She had two one hour naps (I extended her A times) and dropped the CN. She went to bed at 6.45pm and when I put her in her cot she rolled over and went straight to sleep. I didn't hear anything from her until this morning. MAGICAL!

Fingers crossed she keeps going this way!

Thanks for your advice x
