What do I need to sort first?
« on: August 15, 2010, 21:11:06 pm »
Hi, I am trying to get back on track with 3 hour EASY and had 1 good day, then an awful night and awful day today. The problem is I just don't know where to begin now. All day LO has been impossible to get to sleep even with my usual AP of rocking, etc. She has been OT and then waking from naps and unable to get her back to sleep at all. Nothing works!

Now I know I need to try shush-pat and put her down to sleep but when I have tried it leads to awful OT as she won't go to sleep. So am I best trying to get our routine sorted and then look at sleep training at a later date or try it all together? She has also been waking crying as if in pain today so I am not sure starting sleep training will be productive yet? She suffers from silent reflux but it does seem to be sorted with meds now.

I got quite good  at reading her signals but since getting off track I seem to miss them all the time and miss her sleep window causing an OT screaming LO. Hope I have posted this in the right place, could be more of a sleep issue than an EASY issue, sorry. DD will be 11 weeks tomorrow and I have totally messed up with AP. :-[ Please help me get back on track.

I would get your routine sorted first as sleep training as you say can mean OT if it is taking a long time to get down. Could you post your EASY in EAS format so we can see how long she is awke etc.?

Thanks for the reply. I am determined to get back on track tomorrow so will post my EASY then. No point in posting today's it was a disaster! I am sure she has been staying up too long, but she is spirited and sooo hard to read. She is also very alert and active for her age so seems to cope with being awake for 1.5 hours but I now realise she was getting OT. This plus her reflux needs have led to awful AP sleep habits. I just hope and pray I can turn this around.
