« on: August 16, 2010, 19:20:36 pm »
So 1st day of EASY well it wasn't that easy :'( i had tried to follow EASY but this is the first time i have written it all down. I really need some help our little daughter is so challinging and 15 weeks down the line we are still having a struggle. Can anyone tell me where I am going wrong? The health visitor is coming on Thursday to do the post natal depression test, I don't think I have but may end up that way if this carrys on! She never really slept for more that 1 hour even as a newborn!!!!! Everyone kept telling me it would get better and things have improved but the napping hasn't at all. :-\

8.00 awake
 8.30 feed
 9.45 sleep
10.06 fell asleep (I stayed in the room ready to put the dummy back in as she would cry for it do shhhhh rub ect)
 10.35 awake
Battle till 11.25 trying to get her to sleep
 11.45 feed
 12.40 asleep
 12.45 fell asleep
 1.13 awake
Battle till 2.20 trying to get her to sleep
 3.00 feed
 4.40 asleep
 5.00 fall asleep
 5.30 awake
 6.30 Bath
 6.45 Feed
 7.00 Bed

She would usally have a feed aroiund 3.30 am, oh and dream feed at 10.30 pm

I need to add that she has a dummy and often it falls out for and we can spend up to an hour after we put her down putting the dummy in!!! :o

As of 8.15pm very unsettled, crying with dummy in mouth but eyes closes (think she may be asleep)

So it seems she's a good night sleeper? Just the naps are trouble?

Is she really sleeping a 13 hour night?
Are you breast or bottle feeding? We want to make sure you're supplying enough and she's eating enough to keep her asleep.

I am bottle feeding, we put her down at 7.00 but it is often very, very interupted up till aprox 8.30(dummy falling out), I DF her at 10.30 - 11.00 and she usally stays asleep  for that. After her 3.00am feed she gets quite unsettled but I manage to get her back to sleep quickly. She was sleeping in till 10.00am but as of this morning have started to set my alarm.(this morning I had to wake her up)!

Hey there hun,

Welcome to the boards :)

EASY isn't easy to start off with, till you sort things out, but totally worth the effort. We started EASY around the same age as you lo was, and were pretty much all over the place, so hang on in there :)

I really think that your A times are too long, what we need to do,m is account for wind down as part of your overall A time, so if you aim for A time of 01.45 hrs, you may want to start wind down at 01.30 hrs to have her asleep @ 01.45.

It also helps loads to really darken the room as well as use sh/pat, which looks like you're already using. So, I'd recommend establishing a good wind down routine and limiting total A time, which is from eyes open to eyes shut to be in the range of 1.45 hrs.

Thanks, I have always had blackout blinds so the room is REALLY dark, I even have a black out blind on the pram but she never really sleeps in there either, even when being pushed. Even in the car driving she wakes up after nodding off for 20 - 30 mins.

Maybe try adjusting the A times and see how things go?

After looking at your schedule, I think you're doing the same thing I did at first...I didn't count wind-down time as A time. Made all the difference once it did.
