i've been reading posts on these forums and i want to start implementing EASY strictly after LO has his 4-month shots and visit. I have a few questions and a few issues that i need clarifications:
some background:
- his bedtime is between 6-7 pm, and he usually wakes up once between 12-2, and again at around 5
- he has no specific bedtime routine. we feed his last bottle, hold him for 5-20 mins till he's sort of asleep, put him to bed and shh/pat him till he completely sleeps
- at night he's able to go right back to sleep after a feed, most of the time we left his room while he's still awake and he can settle himself
- he has mild acid reflux, and he's on medication which we give him at 5 when he wakes up. we then have to wait 30 mins before feeding him. we are considering delaying the medication till his next feed at 8-ish
- he's a catnapper. the way we put him to sleep is the same as his bedtime. hold for 5-10 till he's kind of asleep
- he is usually not cranky, and even when he wakes up from a short nap, he doesn't cry (though sometimes appears tired), and can happily play till the next feed.
- his pattern is often like this: EASA ESA ESA ESA till bed time.
1. should LO not be in an overtired state when starting EASY? does it matter?
2. his night sleep seems ok to me. would like to eventually move his bedtime a little later and his wake time also later. am i being realistic?
3. he currently sleeps swaddled. while i sleep train him to sleep indepedently, can i also train him to to sleep unswaddled at the same time?
4. since he deosn't cry much, and can spend a lot of time on his own in his crib, how do i go by teaching him to sleep independently? should i just put him in his crib whether or not he's sleepy when it's nap time? and what if he's really sleepy before nap time since he woke up early from the previous cycle?
