My 7.5 Month old son does not drink 20 oz. + per day. He is more around 16-18 oz. He has never been a big eater to begin with...never maxed the 36 oz. per day before he started solids. In the last few days I noticed he is drinking less with his meals. I have tried to keep the amount of solids per meal the same but we have just started chicken...have only done fruits/veggies/grains prior to this. He has about 3 - 5 bm's per day (not sure if this info helps ya'll).

Should I be concerned? Should I decrease the solids to increase the liquid?

His feeds are currently:

9am breakfast: solids + 2 - 4 oz liquid (used to be consistently 4 oz.)
1am lunch: solids + 2 - 4 oz liquid (used to be consistently 4 oz.)
5 pm dinner: solids + 4 oz liquid
6:45 bed time bottle: 6 - 10 oz.

I also give him a bit of water throughout the day at the recommendation of pediatrician now that he has started solids.

Thank you!

Hello!

Up until 1 year milk is the main source of calories and nutrients so if you can get more milk then it would be better. Looking at your routine I would suggest putting the milk feed before solids so he takes milk when he is really hungry. As part of the EASY structure, until closer to 1 year we suggest keeping the milk feed as the Eat part of the routine and the solids come an hour or so later in the Activity part of the routine.

What time does he wake? If it is just before 9 you can give his bottle first and then breakfast a bit later for example. Here is a link to the routines of other babies your LO's age to give you an idea http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=164030.0.

What do you think?

Thank you so much for prompt response! :-)

He wakes up anywhere between 8 and 9 am.

I am concerned about splitting up the meals into liquid and solid at different times because of snacking. thoughts??? Also, won't I pretty much be feeding him all day long? He goes to bed at 7pm with last feed around 6:45 and its just a bottle.

Right now I am also going to be working on extending his A time (thanks to the help of this site) as he is taking a long time to fall asleep (not crying but everything else). Will it be problem to change both things in his day at the same time?

I looked at your sample routines and #2 looks almost identical to me right now except hers is taking more liquid and wakes earlier and to bed later.

Thanks again!
