So today we had a 45min nap (stupid dog barking when the man delivered the "gro clock" ::) ) and do you know what?  he was out to sleep within 5mins tops.  I forgot to give meds too!  Just as I was putting him down I thought oh I should've given you some medicine - too late now!

Nap settling today was also good despite my brother turning up just as I was about to put DS down and then it being 30mins later than planned!

Maybe you've hit on a formula then - short nap, 30 mins later than normal?

I am going to stick with that slightly shorter nap cos an hour to settle at night is driving me insane!!

Last night he was restless though and woke twice (although he may have woken once and still been awake in between me sleeping!)  I think I'm going to try about an hr nap and see what happens.

Maybe just maybe once he can go without a nap he'll STTN!

Gro clock - a clock that shows stars at night (and they disappear as the night progresses) and then at a set time the sun rises and the clock goes from blue to yellow.  It comes with a story that you read to your LO at night to help them understand.  The idea mainly is to keep them in bed at 5am!  It gets great reviews and seems a lot of peopl have had a lot of success with it.  It is quite expensive although I got it for £22 from amazon.

here is a link http://www.gro.co.uk/Gro-clock.html

It all went a bit to pot last night though and as it happened the time was out by 15mins so he was getting stressy before the light came on oops!

If D is waking early you should give it a go.

Oh that sounds like a good idea but we generally don't have too many issues with EWs, unless he is in pain...I think he would be that obsessed with watching it that he wouldn't fall asleep ;D  He LOVES stars and the moon!!

Hope things start working well for you soon sweetie,
biggest of big hugs

P.S. You back at work yet, feeling ok??

Back at work tomorrow :(  It's a weird feeling as although O has been driving me round the bend :P I'm really going to miss him.... :(  :'(

I'm low today - probably cos of the above - but also cos I read how everyone else seems to tweak their LOs routine and some good comes of it and it NEVER works for me.  :'(

The groclock worked this morning as in it actually turned on - he was already awake but called mummy when the sunshine lit up his room!  He knows that the "sunshine" means get up but he hasn't quite grasped that no sun (he still doesn't want the stars on!) means sleep... we'll see, it's still early days.

It's going to take time Laura - I think it's great already that he knows the sun means he can call you.  That's half the battle.  You can't make him sleep during the moon, just like I can't make Finn finish his night.  These kids eh lol

I think if he prefers the dark that's fine too.  All he needs to understand really is dark means it's not time for anyone else to be up.

I know what you mean about tweaking.  Especially when I hear people who move things by 15 or 20 mins and get back to an 11 hour night or something.  Or how they just throw in 2 naps when they need LO to catch up.  Yeah right, two naps in this house would be one for Finn and one for me! lol

(((hugs))) for being back at work, it's bittersweet isn't it.  I feel like going back after a weekend with Finn lol but then during the week I miss him so much.  Bah.
The tweaking never stops!

I daren't say lol!

I *try* to take each day as it comes really.  The only thing that I have been doing (with varied success) is an earlier nap.  This has meant he is at least settling quicker to sleep which for me is nice.  NWs and what he gets up to are something I'm starting to lose track of as I am so knackered what with being back at work too.

Teeth seem to have disappeared!  Clock is being turned on and off and he's not creating before the light (BUT he's always been pretty good at waiting for us to get him anyway) and I'm not really sure what's the maximum I can really go for with time spent in his bed iyswim - esp. at weekends when secretly I'd love to set the clock for 8am lol!!

Hey lovely,
I don't think 7:30-8am is unreasonable for the weekends, but I always feed guilty if I know Dyllan has been awake and waiting for AGES!
Hugs for being back at work, it does tug at the heart strings being away from our little rascals!

Big hugs, will pm you xx

me too! :)
good news about the naps. If he is settling quicker and sleeping for longer it sounds like it is right for him x
