So it appears we've had 4 STTN BUT super EW this morning why oh why can't I win for once!

I can't guarantee he's STTN but at least I haven't had to get up to him.

I'm capping nap to 1hr and I have to say he has also been falling asleep within minutes at bedtime rather than the 40-60mins it has been taking.

DH however has been keeping me awake instead ::)

I would take a 5am waking over the long NWs and am just really hoping it's teeth.  We do always get EWs with teeth.  That first molar *still* isn't through yet though.

*cheer* that's great! It's a step in the right direction...:) Oh Laura, I'm hoping this is a turning point for ds...

sorry about dh :( My dh grinds his teeth like mad and I often have to wander off at 4 in the morning to the couch.

Sweetie is this progress also since you have taken O off the soy and milk?  My DS has had to go back on his reflux meds (boo) 'cause he wasn't settling at night and was screaming about 3 times a night, poor little fella...mega reflux flare, cold and molars -yikes!

Hugs to you lovely, don't stress if you haven't heard him, you will hear him if he needs you xx

Tonight not quite so good - not sure why, a long time to settle again and with a 5am waking.

Lizzie - he is still on some dairy but now no soy.  Adding the dairy made no difference in the small quantities so I have left it in for the time beign.  We've been cutting his nap to an hour too - today it was much later though due to my mum needing to take my bro to the dr so we'll see what the next few days brings.

Be careful what you wish for...seriously.  It may be better but it may not, starting life at 5 a.m. every day doesn't jive with reality unfortunately.  I can't stay awake past 9 p.m. most days now.  Sad.

I do hope things are going better though :-) and that when both boys have their teeth you and I can just put our feet up and help others lol

Neither can I !!

TBH I totally agree with you Wendy, I remember before we had a spell where he'd sleep through and then wake early and it was an absolute killer.  For me atm I'm just enjoying being able to sleep more than 2hrs uninterrupted ;)

Teething has always caused EWs (of which we had another one today!) even with long NWs we'd get the EWs with teeth so for now I'm going to blame that and keep my fingers crossed!

Same here, though I force myself up late so I can exercise, clean and see DH some. Running on VERY little sleep these days.

Laura, teeth have always been EWs here too. Last night DS was asleep 7:30-7:35, moaning around 12:30, moaning around 4:55 and up for day 5:45. Really hoping he takes a long nap today so he can get through Thanksgiving dinner...

We had lots of moaning too last night.  It appears that since Sat DS has STTN!!  Saturday we cut his nap completely since then we have been capping it to an hour and have taken away the soya milk (although he has still been having soy flour in the bread he's been eating - is that the same thing?)

Question is though he's been waking very early and is tired - massive bags under his eyes - do you think I should let him nap a bit longer if he wants it?  TBH I'm scared to change anything atm!!

Agree, stick at it for a bit.  If you go back too quickly on the nap it will reset everything I think.  Dunno.  Just think STTN is a step forward and don't mess with it!!

Laura does he have allergies, because Finn has bags too but apparently they are atopic shiners or allergic shiners.  Not from being tired...although that certainly doesn't help.
I would not be surprised if it is all related.  Finn has allergies but to what we don't know.  He may have a food allergy/intolerance for all we know.

Well I didn't hear him till 6.10am!  I really don't know whether I'm just sleeping through him being awake as he really does look shattered :-\

Interestingly I didn't give him coconut milk last night as the EWs had been since I started that so I will put him on it again tonight and see what we get tomorrow morning!

If he did STTN then he pretty much had 11hrs, he went down for his nap a little while ago - fell asleep within seconds which would also suggest he's still tired :-\

Wendy - he doesn't have allergies that we know of but I'm allergic to grass and dogs(the latter one according to allergy testing no real experience of it given we have a dog!) I used to be allergic to andrew toilet paper (yes - don't laugh) and brown bread and DH is allergic to dust mites!  So the chances of O being having allergies is fairly high I would think!  He did have allergy testing when he was 6mths old as part of a survey I took part in when I was pg but showed no allergies - BUT he'd had some medised the night before for his nose and I didn't realise it was an antihistamine ::)

Dust mites is a big one that causes allergic rhinitis which causes the atopic shiners.  I would not discount that theory for the bags under eyes.  Apparently the blood vessels under there get irritated and slight swelling causing that sleepless look.  What kind of heating do you guys have in your house?  Finn's have gotten worse because we have forced air.  But I suspect in UK that's not an issue lol

The allergist we went to said it's really unlikely allergies will show up in testing before 2 yrs of age.  Some severe allergies maybe but not the run of the mill usual suspects.
