More hugs from me - hope he feels better soon. I'm a big fan of Vicks baby rub on the feet at night (covered by socks or footed pajamas) for a cough...

Have you told the doc his cough is so bad he's throwing up? Don't want to unneccesarily alarm you but that can be a sign of whooping cough. Of course it may not be but if caught early enough and treated with a certain type of a/b it can stop the cough from getting too bad.

He's got ear infection, she said his chest was clear but tbh I'm going to see how he is tomorrow and then take it from there as he's been coughing a lot and been sick again. :(

On the sleep front though - he's refused to nap even after a sh*tty night.  He's knackered, I'm knackered!

Has he got a runny nose?
Stan has got an awful cough but only lying down. Things that helped last night were
a teaspoon of honey in a few sips of warm water
Vicks on the soles of his feet with socks on
Elevating the head of his mattress
Crock pot full of water on in his room for humidity.

It's not a chesty cough - his chest is clear - but very tickly and coughing to gagging.

A clear chest doesn't rule out whooping cough. Trouble  is docs don't see a lot of cases of it nowadays and don't know how to diagnose it. If he is still coughing a lot, the test is a simple nose swab - hopefully wouldn't stress O too much.

This is interesting.  However after today's visit to the hospital I've been sent away being told it's a virus.  He has thrown up again twice today and I was told it's cos he's got a runny nose and is swallowing all his snot (nice!)  He has normal sats etc and so that's what they have said.  He saw his immunologist consultant who alreasy thinks I'm neurotic.  I felt like punching him when he told me "all children don't sleep well when they're ill" really?? ::)  My point was that for the last 2 nights he's barely slept cos he's been so damn uncomfortable even with both paracetamol and nurofen.  Even when he's not coughin he's just whining and crying.

Feel stressed!  But after 3 drs telling me the same thing I guess I just have to suck it up.

 :'( :'( More (((hugs))), Laura!

This may not be what you're looking for, but would he sleep better at all with you, ie, propped up in bed or in a recliner.  It may not help you get more sleep, but when C's been really stuffed up, it seems to help her; even with a cough, as Anna mentioned that's worse too lying down.
