Can you puree canned or frozen fruit and veg
« on: August 26, 2010, 03:05:20 am »
Is it ok to puree canned (in natural juices) or frozen fruit and veges.  I live in a very remote town and access to fresh fruit and veges is very difficult and expensive.

no reason why not. In fact some people say that frozen veges can have more vitamins etc than fresh - depending on where you get your fresh from. if from supermarket, they really aren't that fresh.

just remember with the canned stuff, it will have more juice in even the fruit, so dont puree the juice withit. I would save and freeze it.

of course, buy the stuff with no additives or sugar added.

have fun!

I imagine it would be ok.
You could also buy stuff on sale and freeze the bulk of it.
How about a home vegie patch?

frozen and canned work quite nicely, but try to do the frozen if you can because the canned produce loses some of its nutritious value.
