Recent downtime

So as you all noticed, the server has been up and down over the last few days. I could not even connect to the server myself, it was in the hands of the provider to bring it back up.

So i'm on there now, looking around and it looks like we have been hacked again. The hacker installed his things on the 23rd.

I'm trying to remove it without having to do an OS rebuild but just all know that we are in the hands of person X right now until I can work this out.

Does this affect us in any way Tom....like can he delete posts, interfere with posts, get into our accounts and post msgs, etc etc etc??

I would hazard a guess that it's not what he is interested in. They tend to be in it for the 'ownership', not to spite any particular site. They then use it for anonymous proxies, file uploads and what have you.

That said, he's free do do whatever he pleases until I know he's out. I'm about to back everything up to an external server just in case he decides to do anything more.

Like I say, don't take it personally. They probably have no idea what the server is being used for. They just see it as another box to own.

I think I have found everything they have done and am removing it all now. Should be good... I hope...

I guess we'll see in the wee hours, as that's when it seems to be going down...

Looks like the provider has been busy building us a new server and are moving us over at some point soon. Hold tight, nearly there
