Hey ladies,
Wondering if anyone knows about freezing jarred baby food? I'm assuming it's the same as freezing homemade food but want to be sure. Right now I'm only mixing about 1/2 Tbsp in with his cereal so a lot goes to waste before I can use it up. TIA

As far as I know you can't/ shouldn't freeze it. You can keep it in the fridge for 24/48 hours providing you don't feed from the jar though. Maybe someone else will have different info!

Once site I found online said to follow guidelines on the jars but there aren't any on the ones I have (Gerber). I used apples for about 3 days before throwing it out and there was still half a jar left.

The info I have is the same as Lolly's.
What I did with both DD and DS when they were first starting solids was to make a big batch of food and freeze it in ice cube trays, so i could defrost just one or two cubes at a time.

Yep, us too. You can freeze homemade baby food, but jarred food should be refrigerated and used within three days then thrown away.

Agree with pp. I found it easier just to make up my own. I did the ice cube trays too!

I decided to freeze my jarred baby food and see what would happen....and everything turned out fine. No funny taste, texture remained the same, no reactions after he ate. So far I've frozen pear, peaches, apple, banana and prune.

Glad it's been ok so far - make sure you heat it really hot though and let it cool before you serve it. I think the issue would be with bacteria growth rather than texture/taste. If you do the same with meat/dairy foods be extra careful.
