crying before sleep - normal? (not Mantra cry)
« on: September 22, 2010, 15:44:13 pm »
Hiya all,

DS2 crying really unsettles me to a point where I get all nervous etc. so really want to understand this.

Sometimes right before he falls asleep he cries really hard, not a self soothing Mantra cry, which also he does sometimes so I know the difference between the 2. Is this normal or a sign he is overtired?

We have to rock him to sleep thank to reflux and its AP all the way! When we try independent sleep he willcrawl over his bed then finally cry i will rock for 2 minutes and he is asleep...so its almost like final touch has to bea rock...I know AP issues ...

Its like he is crying 1 second the next he is asleep...

Thanks!
9 and 6, oh boy!

Some babies just do that before sleep - like a way to release all the stimulation and excitement before sleep. Really Mukta, it's okay, you're not doing anything wrong :) I promise! It doesn't necessarily mean overtired.

It's built into us as mothers - literally, it's a medically proven fact. Women get instantly agitated and have an instant physical reaction to crying and a need to comfort the baby.

My first thought was routine tweak but if he's refluxing I think you just need to do your best to comfort him and roll with it.  As Jess said, you're doing great! :-*
