What times Do I Feed her solids
« on: September 26, 2010, 21:56:10 pm »
My LO is starting out on solids and she is on a 4 hour routine where she would BF at 7am, 11am, 3pm and 7pm. What times should I be feeding her solids (starting with cereal)?
Right now I am feeding her twice a day. Once at 8am and again at 11am (8am is after BF at 7am) and the 11am is before BF (shortly after solids).
Are these the best times? and what time should I add the third solid?

With thanks. :)

I think that giving solids an hour after BF is great. At this age, you really want all of her nutrition to come from milk, the solids is just for fun, getting used to new tastes and textures. So I would do solids at 8am, 12noon, and 4pm.

Sounds perfect to me, i wasn't too sure if solids should be first or not. Thank you so much for the quick reply.

I agree with Anna, and that's exactly how we did it with DS1 and will with DS2 too.  :)

Mukta, I would start with one meal a day and work up to three.  How fast or slow you go is really up to you.  I think with T I moved to 3 meals quite quickly, probably within a week.  But you can take your time and see how he does with one, then go to two then to three when you are both ready.  I will probably go slower with F than I did with T since his tummy is more sensitive than T's was.  We'll be starting in a few weeks so we can go through it together.  ;)
