Groaning when waking at night
« on: September 27, 2010, 10:29:06 am »
Hello! Lucy is 15 weeks old and has been STTN for about 6 or 7 weeks now. Its just the last couple of days she's been waking at around 4 am with these really load groaning noises, she sounds like she's maybe uncomfortable. I can't work out what is causing this. She was groaning for about an hour (i checked nappy etc) and I wondered if it was maybe teething so put some bonjela on her gums. She carried on for another half hour or so then settled herself back to sleep and slept through until 8am!

I'm so unsure how to deal with this, I've noticed her groaning a bit i the day recently too but it never upsets her too much. I didn't pick her up as it never escalated to a cry and I didn't want to stimulate her any more, but I feel a bit guilty for leaving her. She is teething (I can see a little one poking through at the bottom right!!!) but has been for a few weeks now and its only last few days this groaning is happening. Crazily, it seems to be since she had her 2nd lot of jabs on thursday.

Does anyone have any ideas what this may be?

Thanks in advance

Sounds like teeth to me - but truly, that's INCREDIBLE that she's STTN so early and putting herself back to sleep even with teeth. Well done mom!!

Awww thank you! I think its more through luck than judgement though!!! (and E.A.S.Y.!!!)

My mum visited yesterday and she thinks its teeth too. I gave her some Calpol last night before bed and she was much more settled. My poor little baby was in pain  :( it freaks me out a bit because she doesn't ever cry much so I'm scared I miss when she's in pain/not happy etc.

I'm sure my next child will be a terror...!!!

Don't worry, she will let you know when she's in pain or what not. :)
