Bedtime snack for 1 yo.
« on: September 27, 2010, 17:04:52 pm »
OK, I have a hard time calling my baby a toddler  :'(, but she turned one last Friday and I've decided to basically go cold turkey with no bottles/formula except the first one in the morning.

However, I would like to give her some sort of bedtime snack to help her through the night.  Last night I gave her peanutbutter toast and she slept till 6:15, but she's a fairly picky eater, so I don't have a lot of ideas.  Banana's were always good for my son before bed or first thing in the morning, but she HATES them.  Does anybody have any other ideas?

How about some warm milk to replace that last bottle?  My DD1 will be 3 next month and we still do this.  At that age, I definately considered milk to be as much (if not more) "food" that beverage ifkwim.

Other than that, I would imagine you want to do something that is not too heavy.  Applesauce, crackers perhaps. I am sure others will have better suggestions.

Well we always do bananas when we have them but we don't always have them.  In such circumstances my DD will take a granola bar or cheese.  We haven't tried anything else.  We still give milk before bed and it's a hit or miss.

we did/do the same thing when we weaned that last bottle at 13monts. My go to snacks include celery with peanut butter, yogurt or a stick of cheese. We offer milk, but he's never really taken to milk, so he refuses 9/10 times, but we still make it available :)

Yep, I offer milk and she will drink a couple of drinks, but that's it.  Even with the bottle for the last few weeks she wouldn't drink much.  Yogurt is a great idea, thanks.  I'm trying to think of things other than her fav. of crackers and bread.  If I let her that's all she'd eat!!  Cheese would be a great idea too, but she doesn't like cheese either.  I've never seen a child not like cheese!!  Applesauce would probably work too.  Thanks for the ideas!!

I give my DD some baby cereal made with cow's milk with fruit sauce mixed in.  She gobbles it up :-)

ooooh, that's a good idea.  I don't know why I always forget that she LOVES the baby oatmeal.  So simple, but I always forget.
