Sometime during the last month or so (or more?!) we seem to have slipped into DD having a bottle of milk at somewhere between 4-6:30am. She usually goes back to sleep fine except when she's got a bad cough but it is beginning to get a bit annoying. DH and I don't sleep well and often DH does not go back to sleep after this feed even if I do it. The dilemma is that DD definately favours early waking 6-6:30am and we'd like her to sleep till 7am and without the milky bribe she's very much awake.
She had been through spells of sleeping till her alloted up time but not for a long time. We've had a teething onslaught, a few colds, a house move (August), she's walking none of which are helping! I also think she should probably move to one nap but the problem we have is that she is in daycare from 9-3 and she does not sleep well there. She usually manages 45mins to 1h, occasionally 1.5h and I had been letting her have a nap at home from 3:30 till 5:00. She is not tired enough to sleep in her cot in the afternoon so we often go for a walk and she has a sleep in the pram for a similar lenght of time.
With a milky pitstop at say 5am (probably awake for 20 min) she's asleep from 7:30 to at least 7:00 but usually we wake her at 7:30.
She's not managed to sleep at daycare for the last 2 days so I think I need to get them to move her 11am nap later. Does this sound sensible?
Should we just live with the early feed, or would it be wise to try to do something about it and risk going back to early wakings?
I've been trying to get her to self-soothe on a blanket, not sure if it is working at all through.
Ideas welcome!
