Anyone with a 5 month old - what's your A time?
« on: October 22, 2010, 12:03:19 pm »
My DS has no cues and because of reflux, I think I misread lots of his noises etc as tiredness instead of pain.

I've read so many of the schedules for 5 month olds but still wondered, what is your A time of your 5 month old if you have one?

We've been working on 2hrs but today, he's still showing no signs of tiredness. And i wonder if that's why I still get some 35 or 45 min naps!

Megan is doing 2.25- 3ish hrs now. Bit of a pain as going to bed OT in the evening as she won't take a CN.

But - yep - we left 2 hrs behind quite a few weeks ago really. And believe it or not I am getting 2x2hr naps now!!

Although I'm also getting a lot of very chatty NWings, and 10 hr EWs. Hmmmm.

Hmmm, maybe I need to do more then. He mantra cries when I put him down but self settles himself to sleep. Never quite know if I do get any signs like eye rubbing, to act immediately or wait for another few signs.

Mu Ds is a week short of 5 months but still difficult to strech him past 1.5 hr!! he slleps 1.5-2hr naps...all different I guess. I have to say the "overstimulation" thread was v good, my quiet time is far longer now, he really only has 45 min max of high activity

Unfortunately with a nearly 3 year old to entertain, low key is often not an option for us!

I don't think my routine is quite right yet - but I know she won't sleep at 1.5 - 2hrs.

Megan 'tells me off' when she is tried and rubs her head on my shoulder when I pick her up.

No low key A round here either  ;D, unless you count sitting and watching Jacob eat him breakfast. 'Mama toast, jam, toast, no B (butter), no no no no no, AHHHHHH, down down, wash hands, Bob Bob (bob the builder) etc etc'. Hardly low key  ::) ::).

I do think LOs adapt past that if the are constantly exposed though. They have too.

So after another short nap (which I managed to extend for about 10mins!) he's up again!

He does wake crying but once downstairs is happy as larry! Well as happy as a bub with reflux gets in my case!

I'm at a loss with him!
Just posted on the NW board and the EASY board for a bit of help

Posted at the same time Liz!

It is impossible to do low key isn't it Liz!
I'm actually now putting off waking DD as it is at least quiet here at the moment! Enjoying watching DS in his exersaucer, exploring. Lovely to watch now he's really taking in what's around him and grabbing at things. Just wish the little sod would sleep longer!

That sounds UT too me. I mean - you can't extend a short UT nap as they aren't tired enough.

Do you mean UT as he didn't extend for long?

Hm - I might agree, Liz.

J is just a couple of weeks older than R, and he's doing anything from 2-3 hours, no sweat. Like Megan, he's a bit OT at night b/c of no cat nap, but goes down like a rock and stays down until anytime between 1 (rarely) and 5am.

HUGS!
♥ Kim

The other thing that can bust is hunger, of course, and wind.

See how he gets on with a little more A though. Worth a shot??

Well we gave him a few mouthfuls if baby rice this morning and made sure he was fully winded. Still went down around 2hr mark as desperately rubbing his eyes. I am now camped out in our bedroom as was getting dressed etc and just about to leave and realised we were just at the 35 min mark so now too scared to leave and creek the floorboards outside his room in case I wake him LOL!!!! Might ruin my experiment!!!
