Hi

Just starting solids with DS. So used to the greedy guts of his big sister, these purees etc seem alien again to me!  ;D

We are only on day three so really really early days, but just cannot remember how long it too DD to learn what to do with the food in her mouth! He doesn't seem to mind the taste or the spoon, just hasn't quite worked out the swallowing thing yet!

I've been giving him a couple of teaspoons although not really sure how much is going down and how much I am wiping away from his face!!! LOL

So remind me, how long before your DS or DD *got* it completely!

Don't worry about how much gets in him, as long as he seems to be enjoying it then keep going and he'll get it soon.  I think like anything else though when they get it probably varies from baby to baby.  It's usually by 6mos that they lose the tongue thrust reflex.

I don't know whether this is cruel or unusual (Jack doesn't seem to mind!) but I leave the spoon in his mouth until he's slurped all the puree off it, then I take the spoon out...
