just cries at the table
« on: November 03, 2010, 06:23:18 am »
We have always eaten at the table together, probably every single dinnertime and most lunchtimes. However lately Caleb just cries at the dinner table and wont eat. We tried a couple of times giving him dinner on the couch while watching TV and he ate his dinner fine. But not at the dinnertable.

Is this normal? Once hes down I dont offer him more food, so hes not thinking "If i get down i get what I want anyway"

Alex does this sometimes when he is either teething, or has tonsillitis again- I guess it's just too painful to eat. Could that be it Jo? xxx

Possibly, he didn't eat his dinner tonight and he just had a NW. *sigh* teeth are such a nightmare they affect so many areas for these poor kids :(

I know, Alex is a horrible teether. We are still waiting for 4 canines and 4 back molars, that's something to look forward to, eh? Did you know it has been scientifically proven that gingers need higher levels of anaesthetics and pain relief to be effective than non- gingers? Poor little fellas, see it's not their fault they feel it worse than some! xx

I had surgery a few weeks ago and had been told that gingers are a higher risk under anaesthetic, so did some googling and found loads of info!
Hope he sleeps the rest of the night, hugs for you and your little ginger dude xxxx

Jo - my DS does this a lot of nights lately. I'm blaming it on tiredness and teething (he's working on molars AND canines at the same time - ouch). What works for us (as well as anything can/does lately) is that I give him part of his evening bottle at this time - I hand him a few ounces in his high chair and that seems to help and make him more in the mood to eat.

BTW - Matthew is not a ginger but is a blond and definitely a MUCH worse teether (and much less responsive to meds) than DD (who had light brown hair) was.
