"I don't like it"
« on: November 05, 2010, 04:57:55 am »
DS is/was a wonderful eater until about 3 days ago.
He loves pizza, I ordered him one as a treat (sometimes we do this) it arrived I opened it and he declared "I don't like Pizza"
Yesterday I made him an egg, these are his absolute favourite......he declared "I Don't like egg"...I said of course you do and I spoon fed him it but each time she shivered as he swallowed....not sure what is up...is it just a phase? oh and brocolli...he loved the stuff, used to ask for it for breakfast, now won't put it past his lips???

He could just be trying out to see what reaction it gets, see if you're spoon feed him, or offer him something else, or try to cajole him into eating it - all good fun. Stan does this all the time.

Funny you saying that, Anna. I used to do this thing to my mum at this age. She first asked what I wanted to eat, I then told her, she cooked it (I very often demanded things that took a lot of effort to make) and served it.

I said, I don't like it, she scooped it away and put it in the bin. Demanded for me to stay put until she finished eating. I did this every day for a week and then never again. I like almost all foods and am not picky, always had a good weight, too (until I started ADs  ::) ) and healthy eating habits.

ok so that is what I am going to do....he always helps me cook and we discuss what we are going to have before we make it!
He loves to taste as we go along.....On his first I don't like it, I will scoop it away and give to the dog. I will insist though that he wait until I finish my dinner.
will keep you posted xx

I take a different tack to Steffis mum, I just say 'oh dear, no lunch for you then?' I leave his plate out but I just get on withmy meal.

Yeah, leaving the plate may be a little better. Or ask him if he wants to give it to the dog, then it's his decision  :P

Amy DD1 has recently learned the phrase "I don't like it" ::) And she says it with food I know full well she likes so I do as Anna says, basically give her no reaction that she says she's not eating it but leave the plate within reach, and 9/10 she starts eating :) Good luck xx
Blessed mum to two home-birthed darling water babies

hey you with the pretty face, welcome to the human race

Yeah I am beginning to realise that Charlibob! Tonight we had carrots, baby ones, Jacket potato and chicken breast....He ate the potato but then declared he didn't like the carrots, after having eaten them while we were preparing dinner!! anyway he didn't eat the chicken (not a big meat fan) but he did eventually eat some of the carrot, I suppose after I had given up interest in whether he ate them or not!
