am I just not getting her? One hour nap screaming bloody murder today.

Does she just need one hour? Last time she slept for 11 hours and 15 minutes..she had a one hour nap that day.

:'( :'( I want my happy baby back

What was the A time?  Are you doing 6 yet?  I think you need to do 6!

Agree with Wendy - that's a long night, she may just need a lot more A time for at least a 1.5 hour nap...

It was 5 hours, but listen! She woke up at 9 and half hours..and then had an hour of awake time and then went to sleep for an hour...I thought she'd be tired. *sigh* Okay, I guess no matter what we'll do 6 hours. I wasn't against it..I was just trying to catch her up to sleep bc she was really tired this morning...

she didn't sleep for 11 hours and 15 minutes last night. She slept for 11 hours 15 when she had 1 hour nap earlier this week.

Trying to find a pattern...

thank you ladies...:) Hope you're having better success at your end.

Oh sorry, I think I am getting confused lol  Maybe I'm not so great at multi-tasking after all.

Don't look for a pattern, honestly there won't be one.  With some kids there just ain't.  I think Z could be one of those kids.

If she had A time and then back to sleep and then a nap, I'll bet she was rested enough at 9.5 hrs to get up and have a longer nap earlier.  She likely got confused about going back to bed after that hour.

I really find at this age that catching them up is by sticking to routine as much as possible, letting them have a longer nap earlier when needed, and giving them opportunity to tack on to their night with early bedtime.

I totally agree with this.  It's so tempting to tweak the heck out of things like we did when they were tiny, but I think regularity (with the minor tweaks Wendy mentioned) is really helpful at this point.  It is for A, anyhow.

hehe ..sorry if I sounded frustrated. I guess I'm just so used to her being so regular.

So if she wakes up at 5 something...should I just keep her up? I just don't know what to do with her at that hour. I can't imagine it being UT? UT would be like 10-10.5 hours for her. argh..curse of being a BW to try to find a pattern for everything.

I just dread putting her down at, say, 11am...as I never know when she'll wake. Yesterday, she was up from 5:30..put her down before 12 and she woke up twice! before 45 minutes and then an hour later..

I know you guys are wonderful at listening and it's hard finding the solutions/answers to everything but it helps to have a sounding board while I go through this mind boggling time.

I think until the teething settles down, you just have to work with each day as it comes, as harrowing as that sounds.  It's impossible to judge which nights she slept 'better' therefore feels more rested, regardless of length of night, if something is bothering you and you have a restless night even though you were in bed for 10 hrs you may still be tired IYSWIM.

If she didn't have a long nap, I would say that 10-10.5 hrs is probably OT and you should still get her up and proceed with your day, earlier nap if you can and see if she gives you a long one.  If not then you plod along until bedtime, make it earlier and let her tack on to her night.  Then start said process again the following day lol

We once had regularity.  I think it was a Tuesday.

Oh and it's mandatory to be frustrated with teething and sleep lol

Ditto what Wendy said, LOL. NO regularity here. DS slept nearly 11 hours last night if you include the 20 minute or so NW. But he was super tired and cranky this morning, ate basically no lunch and took a nap of just over 2 hours. He woke on his own a few minutes after 2 SCREAMING. I had to basically force Motrin into him and he was screaming at everything - offers of snacks, juice, cuddling, books, etc. Had errands to run anyway so we hopped in the car and filled up the gas (on E) and picked up a fresh challah for tonight. Due to road closures for paving it took almost 45 minutes road trip during which time he calmed down, ate half a banana in car and the Motrin got a chance to kick in. He's still crabby but for now distractable...

Hugs Sarah!

I agree with Wendy.

((hugs)) Sarah, I think you're going to have to just *try* pushing that A time and see what happens.

thank you. I will..:) I think that one day when I did push her A slightly and got a good nap..her night went to pot (9 hours and 15 minutes) so I was left trying to sweep up the crumbs from the bad night thus re living a possible UT/OT again?

I have high hopes for tonight..will push her tomorrow and, I think, she needs a longer A to bed..

TEETH!!!!!!!!! felt like yelling.
