try soy ??
« on: December 01, 2010, 23:03:33 pm »
dd (4.5mth) has been on a hypo allergenic formula since 3 days old. we have lactose and reflux issues in the family. she still has constant wind, wakes up due to wind, is snuffly all the time(which we've seen a specialist and she has hayfever). the dr won't prescribe any special milk so i winder if soy may help her at all. she's very fussy on bottles as it is.

It's possible that she may react to soy. Many babies with a milk protein intolerance are also intolerant to soy protein.

For the longest time we thought our family was lactose-intolerant and it took us ages to work out that it was the milk protein we were reacting to - not an allergy, bu can't digest it. To this day when we have straight cows' milk products (except for yogurt, which seems to be OK with our family), we have tons of wind and tummy-aches. :-\ Might not hurt to consider milk protein (casein) intolerance as opposed to lactose.

Yeah, I've had to deal with doctors who don't believe that X is a problem. :P

You can always give soy a try and see what happens. Just good to have a backup plan. :)

Can you try one can of special milk at your expense and see if it makes a difference? Might have a leg to stand on if it does. Maybe. :-\

Wish I had more ideas....
